I'm still in the honeymoon period where I feel like I'm massively benefitting from the reduced commute, but there's definitely cons around the lack of forced exercise.

I fall so far behind in opening/giving gifts I was recently given a parking permit to park in my office building's garage and that's killed my fifteen minute walk to/from my car. PoGo suffering immensely.

There are ten opinions left and this is the final week of the term. I believe decisions will be announced on Tuesday and Friday. Here's a short summary of issues to clench over this week: https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-affirmative-action-student-loans-gay-rights-elections-a3007709350cd1606d5ce9ac4de957a6

Honestly the real nuclear question is whether he's going to authorize the use of tactical nukes within Russian territory to wipe out the insurgency, and as of now it seems like the answer is no.

The SAG-AFTRA authorized a strike, but they haven't gotten to that point yet.

They've been feuding forever, pretty sure that demand (which was like the nuclear option) was followed by Prigozhin showboating by sending them a signed contract that would do the reverse.

Here is the reddit feed on russia/ukraine: https://www.reddit.com/live/18hnzysb1elcs Keep in mind that (a) absolutely nothing is confirmed (aka physical troop movement/conflict) beyond that both sides have declared what they've declared, and (b) everyone is taking it seriously

Honestly with all everything related to the ASMB's anniversary etc., I kinda had that thought that it would be cool to connect more with like-interested people from similar places, like Toonzone. So hopefully we can enrich your internet experience just as you enrich the conversation. Little by little we all come together.

2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences
Raptorpat replied to NewBluntsworth's topic in Current Events
Virginia holds odd-year state elections (alongside Kentucky) and I think we'll treat them as part of the 2024 cycle. And the VA primaries were yesterday, where a number of incumbents lost their primaries due to the state's new maps. Quoted from the article, some of the most prominent include: Sen. Joe Morrissey, a political centrist and increasingly rare Democrat who supports limits on abortion access, lost to former state legislator Lashrecse Aird, who calls herself a 100% supporter of abortion rights. Republican Sen. Amanda Chase, a right-wing firebrand who has served in the Senate since 2016 and embraced falsehoods about the 2020 presidential election, was edged out by Glen Sturtevant, a lawyer and former senator seeking a political comeback in the red-leaning suburban Richmond district. Saddam Salim, a first-generation immigrant and political activist, defeated moderate Democratic Sen. Chap Petersen, a lawyer who angered the angered the liberal wing of his party by providing a key vote for Republicans in getting some of Youngkin’s priorities across the finish line, including legislation that ended school mask mandates last year. https://apnews.com/article/virginia-primary-election-2023-becbc84b7023c6326b7546c9d7476a7f
