where is the glass on a gas burner stove?

this house came with an electric glass top and i strongly dislike it for cooking - the pot or pan has to have a completely flat surface or it takes forever to get hot and because it's a completely flat surface it's real easy to turn into additional counterspace, which is a total fire hazard and the house will inevitably burn down

i am trying to psych myself into replacing all the big kitchen appliances and those crumbs might be the deciding factor
