  1. Wandering around the internet, and even a few subreddits, I found out the following, thanks to a lot of the RT brass being pretty open about the situation on Twitter and their own podcast - 1. Rooster Teeth is shutting down in 60 days from last Thursday. During this sunset period, they're going to shut down their storefronts, their online service, and try to sell off IP to interested buyers under their own conditions. A former animator on RWBY/friend of Monty Oum, Dillon Goo, has expressed interest in buying the IP, but just about everyone doubts he has the cash, and thinks he's trying to position himself as the showrunner for who does get it. 2. If Rooster Teeth cannot facilitate the sales of its properties in 60 days, then Warner and Zaslav sell the IP to the highest bidder, no strings attached. While I'm pretty sure the biggest bid you'll get for gen:Lock is $10 and a free keychain if you sign in the next 30 minutes, RWBY apparently has interested buyers, hence the 60-day time period for Rooster Teeth to find an interested buyer with conditions, which would likely include hiring the current staff, continuing to animate in that busted-ass CG, and picking up where they left off. Suppose the buyer gets it from Zaslav after 60 days. In that case, it's going to be a reboot with none of the restrictions in animation, a brand new art style, and probably throwing out all of the baked-in restrictions in how the girls can be animated (apparently before he died, Monty Oum put in some notable restrictions on how the girls could be portrayed, such as no panty shots, certain types of outfits not being allowed, etc). 3. Seriously, no one is buying gen:Lock. I think if we all chipped in a buck and offered it to Zaslav, that would probably be the highest bid they get.
  2. That’s my point though. They’re making due with what they have, which is assuredly better than nothing.
  3. Beef short ribs garnished with pancetta, mushrooms, and baby tomatoes with mashed potatoes, served with a red wine garlic sauce, and with a French red wine.
  4. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2024-03-09/demon-slayer-hashira-training-arc-anime-new-video-unveils-may-12-tv-debut/.208525 So with that, you think what, sometime next year for Adult Swim? I imagine it hits Netflix in the late summer or fall.
  5. And as noted before, Zom 100 is kind of weird in that everyone got it. Viz apparently had a non-exclusive contract leading to the show ending up on Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, and now Toonami. I would not be surprised if it shows up on Max under the Adult Swim section.
  6. Zom 100? I guess the circle is complete. EVERYONE gets Zom 100. Netflix, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and finally Toonami. The last time that happened (a non-exclusive contract leading to everyone getting it) was Pop Team Epic.
  7. Another cost cutting measure bought to you by David Zaslav. Guess no one is interested in buying Gen:Lock.
  8. I’m thinking of a few years back, some kickboxers came to our gym to get ready for MMA fights. Big dudes, tough but nice, but they needed the help of us grappler/wrestler types for their fights. I then remember DBZ randomly coming up in a conversation and all of them revealed themselves to be huge fans of it. One of them even named his dog Gohan. I don’t doubt that similar stories of guys in the martial arts/combat sports sphere occurred all over the world.
  9. I’m just reminded again of how many people got into martial arts and other combat sports because of DBZ. How many people got into art, animation, storytelling, etc. Yeah, this one will take a bit.
  10. He was 68. Not that old, just hitting retirement age. Damn.
  11. Delicious in Dungeon 10 Bang Brave Bang Bravern 9
  12. I’d bet anything this was originally meant as a tie-in with the Netflix show and after that blew up like the bomb it was they sat on it for a few years waiting for a rainy day.
  13. Too many horror stories from staff there, not to mention an executive recently claiming RWBY was never profitable for them.
  14. Ramen. But the delivery guy came super late and I had to reheat it. Thankfully Uber Eats refunded me the credit.
  15. I’d say it was a good run, but I’d be lying my ass off.
  16. “I hope that you’re all proud of the work you’re doing and if you don’t have work, ask.” FUCK YOU. PAY ME. If you don’t pay me, I don’t give a fuck.
  17. Well it got renewed for two more seasons.
  18. Fire Force S2 17-18
  19. I don’t see Zaslav wanting to bother with the negotiations. Pibby was done in-house in the hopes of getting a show going (which it did not).
  20. Memories of the eye catches that Telemundo kept in. A whole generation of Latino weebs grew up watching this on Spanish television, where they didn’t edit a damn thing.
  21. Yeah, blaming Kai at the ass end of 2:30am doesn't seem logical. The problems are far deeper, namely what's airing and if it's worth recording or staying up for when you can access more, elsewhere. When Toonami/Adult Swim Action was the only game in town, it was perfectly logical to blame the shows and their quality. A rerun was bad for business, people only cared about the big shounen debuting, and DeMarco's shit taste kept threatening to take the block into a tailspin. Well the tailspin is here and it's not DeMarco's fault as far as the existing shows goes, because no matter what you air there, if it's easier to watch elsewhere, it will be watched elsewhere. Chainsaw Man, Goblin Slayer, Chained Soldier, Oshi no Ko, none of it matters if it's easier for the consumer to watch it elsewhere on their own time. And then some people are willing to wait so they're not on the network's schedule. Ninja Kamui is doing surprisingly well on Max, which speaks to Toonami no longer being the primary source, even for stuff it's technically premiering. I make fun of this block a lot, but I do like it. I just don't know how much longer it has, especially with anime fans being, at least in legacy views, tech-savvy and more willing than other groups to be early adopters of technology like streaming. I mean, the war between linear television and streaming is over. Streaming won. Even Adult Swim has conceded defeat, with Max leaning on Adult Swim programming for their value add.
  22. Tacos. There are a lot of taco places around here. More surprising is they all are pretty good.
