Live action Naruto begins casting call, internet asks why
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
That would be funny, but they blatantly asked for Asian actors to play the leads. You know, despite Naruto being a blonde white kid. The last live action anime adaptation to specifically promise Asian leads was Sword Art Online and that appears to be stuck in Development Hell. -
HBO MAX launches today, includes limited selection of Adult Swim
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I think it’s because they have to wait for rights on a lot of stuff licensed to other services to expire before they can add it. If I didn’t get it for free because of my phone plan, I would have held off. As it stands, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is on, so “Yo Holmes, to Bel-Air!” -

toonami's status/lineup the rest of 2020
Jman replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
More specifically, they’re already investing their anime money in Crunchyroll. Toonami feels like a third wheel. This is admittedly why I worry that the higher ups may make Toonami an extension of CR. -
toonami's status/lineup the rest of 2020
Jman replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
The situation is literally unprecedented. Most of these studios, if all goes well, should be back to work by July, since that’s the best case scenario to reopen and put in proper tools and protocols for social distancing. The problem is of course, filling the time with Toonami’s cut budget. That means older shows since asking Crunchyroll for stuff is right out as per DeMarco. They also can’t upheave the production process like Netflix does and go “Well, we want someone to make a Gigant anime.” (Not to mention Gigant wouldn’t get past standards anyway). Expect to see the old standbys and maybe older stuff like PA. -
A man who had a positive influence on people died. I don’t want to speculate why, but it’s to be mourned. He clearly had a positive influence on a lot of people, be it enjoying his writing or his podcasts. His life should be celebrated, his death seen as a tragedy.

No clue if FUNi will be back to their offices by then, but it would be an ideal Toonami show.

Netflix green lights LA Cowboy Bebop, DeMarco busy hating everything

https://deadline.com/2020/05/tomorrow-studios-interview-snowpiercer-persuaders-manga-steve-coogan-hart-hanson-1202935404/ Production is set to resume in September. New Zealand was one of the countries to get COVID-19 under control, so the actors should be safe. -

My Hero Academia Episode 86 Discussion Thread
Jman replied to The1gairon's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Hoo boy, the actual school festival. Let’s get this over with so the writers can go back into digging through X-Men stories. I guess we could do The Twelve after this...- 333 replies

Lupin III: The first to get theatrical release once life gets back to normal
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
Kind of wondering if they’re still committed to a theatre showing or if they’re just going to release it on home media. -
For reasons unknown to Americans, a 5th Tenchi Muyo OVA is coming
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
All I remember about Cream Lemon (never saw it) was that Project A-Ko was supposed to be an episode of it, then they decided the premise was silly and strong enough to not need the porn bits. -

If only it were that simple. No, to understand this series, you apparently need to have read novels from the original writers (including one that’s supposed to be his version of GXP) as well as numerous unlicensed doujins. You want to know what happens when Mihoshi lets her hair down, since that apparently restores her original memories? Only explained in the doujunishi. It is as incomprehensible as American comics can be.
