No one knew what it was till a few weeks ago, which is my point. They’re not going to see what the show is and follow it, they’re going to see a new, very violent show with good animation and be intrigued by that. Which is the opposite of what I expect when people realize Unicorn is a kids show, even if its a very weird one.

No, we’re keeping it family friendly apparently. No blood and gore, no sex, and no foul language. Nothing that would go beyond a TV-PG because this was originally designed for HBO Max as a family friendly action show before the shakeup. Hence my mentioning the resident ultra violent show this season. Edit - I’m torn on how well this will do. Toonami as a viewing block tends to have a mixed at best track record on overly confusing or obtuse shows, and a very poor one on stuff that isn’t adult enough, be it in violence or the like. But Genndy is a name that commands respect from this audience and it’s something you can only see on Max, rather than something airing on Crunchyroll weeks ahead of them. And because I like beating dead horses, here’s the Hell’s Paradise opening. What do you think would have gotten more eyeballs?

https://www.pastemagazine.com/tv/adult-swim-hbo-max/unicorn-warriors-eternal-review The cartoon is described as weird as hell BUT also as family friendly, so expect people to be bitter this is airing and not Hell’s Paradise (which is essentially a spiritual successor to Ninja Scroll). The reviewer seemed to KIND of like it but admitted he didn’t know what was going on till halfway through the 10 episode order.

Well, RIP to one of the greats of "guys you watched because you were sick that day" alongside Bob Barker. "Take care of yourselves, and each other" is still good advice for everyone.

A Robotech/Macross movie script from 2019 has been found…and we dodged a bullet
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
Yeah, way back in the mid-2000s, when Tobey Maguire wanted to produce the film. This production has been cursed. -
I maintain that the next few months will be very interesting for that show. I may be overestimating the Netflix show, but if that is a hit, I imagine Zaslav might have an opinion on the show continuing to air. If that's not a factor, the pace of Dressrosa certainly will be. I can't predict anything else at this point unless DeMarco does want to raid the Sentai warchest. Akhiabara Maid War is right there.

If it helps any, they are pretty much a shadow of what they used to be, thugs that coast by on their reputation from almost two centuries ago.

I just finished reading the whole script. I think if ever there was evidence of someone missing the entire goddamn point of Macross, besides Harmony Gold, it is this script. It is terrible in every sense of the word and would have probably become shorthand for bad films in the same way Batman and Robin is. -
Hasbro apparently but their financials are in the toilet. Also the Pinkertons have no legal authority and actually are banned from working for the government thanks to the Anti-Pinkerton Act of 1893. If you tell them to fuck off and they try to enter your home, you are within your rights to shoot to kill.

Considering the rumor AEW is getting an additional Saturday night show, we could easily see this at midnight in lieu of a Primal rerun. Granted I think that’s the point you throw in the towel on the block as a whole, but I think more people would watch it than yet another Primal rerun or a re-tooled Y7 show.

It’s admittedly a bit weird when you see her in other roles, which is why any clip of her from Lab Rats is usually packed with Naruto jokes in the comments.

People like this thrive by creating an echo chamber and then telling anyone who will listen to not go beyond it. Starting his own service is not impossible, given how it worked for Alex Jones and friends.

Shit went down FAST for this to happen. Like “I diddled kids” or “the government is about to arrest me” fast.

The first tangible budget cut.

John Oliver uses one of his last two shows before a potential writers strike shuts down Last Week Tonight to dunk on crypto. Nice summary of events.

I'm not surprised everything at Warner Bros. Discovery is a mess. Cuts here, there and everywhere, the upcoming Max launch, the whole DC reboot, etc. Adult Swim has to be a very low priority. Looks like DeMarco did get his hands on AOT Part 1. That should be good. Bloody shame about the Toonami book being unpublishable. That's the sort of coffee table book a lot of Gen Xers would love. Pantheon was written off for taxes months ago, and AMC doesn't work directly with Warner. It was never an option. Sony has been public about not taking sides in the streaming wars but when it comes to anime they seem to be very happy giving their wares to everyone but Toonami. If DeMarco can convince them that Toonami is not Crunchyroll's enemy, maybe they can get a working relationship going again. Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku is lighting up social media right now and would be a great show to air, but it's probably not happening. I maintain Uzumaki is probably hanging on by a thread. Let's hope the production delays are over because I still think it could be a cut given its long history. What money? A lot of DeMarco's ideas boil down to a singular complaint he has - What freaking money?
