My theory about Buu Saga is that it needed the remaster the least. The art and voice acting were pretty good by the time the Buu saga originally came around. Also the massive delay caused by the Tsunami years ago has hurt it. They also just didn't seem to cut enough filler out of the Kai Buu saga. Some people joke that the Kai Buu saga needs a "Kai" version to cut it down to size. I mean they're right, this saga really dragged even in Kai form. I hope they're not dumb enough to air their new show after Kai now that its retention sucks.

Yup Jack looks consistent. The April fools hurt Toonami thing seems like a myth. One day of a prank isn't going to do that much damage. March 25th.. Kai beat Super? You don't see that anymore.

Every once in a while they bust out a great sequel like Aliens or Robocop 2. But usually it's more like Aliens 3 or Robocop 3.

Everything has a higher MAL score than BC. I think it has the lowest rated MAL rank out of every Toonami show ever. Casshern Sins 1350 Deadman Wonderland 1947 Dimension W 2354 Dragonball GT 4838 Astro boy 3495 Tenchi Muyo GXP 2644 The only thing even close to it is GT. It still won't be cancelled.

I wonder why Kai retains well some weeks, then has some weeks where it's down near 80. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. BC is pretty much what you expect when you're running an anime ranked 5311 on MAL. If they get a new show there's no chance it keeps the 3rd spot but it won't be cancelled. But on a positive note, BC tanking the ratings makes Jojo and Gundam get decent retention. Who'd have thought those shows would retain better than Kai?

They've been stuck in a rut for a while. They learned to kind of.. eke out an existence by catering to Shonen fans over the years. I think the main blame for this goes to the success of Inuyasha DBZ and Bleach. It worked before so why won't it work now? And it could work again......... the only problem is they don't have the resources to get any of the good Shonen like MHA, SDS, or Mob Psycho. They got BC which is critically hated and the ratings haven't been kind to it. But hey it's similar to every Shonen ever made (especially Naruto) so why not air it? When they have tried airing different stuff on adult swim and Toonami it hasn't gone over well. Remember Shin Chan and Prince of Tennis? Super Milk Chan? They'll air mecha stuff but aside from Gurren Lagan it's always Gundam. I've only seen a couple Gundam series but they've been generally unwatchable and low rated. Darling in the Franxx isn't great but it's way better than Gundam. The first season of Aldnoah Zero blows any of the Gundams I've seen away easily. So yeah I'm all for them finally breaking out of the rut they've been in and trying new things. As long as it's not live action stuff.

I have a feeling they'll air it 3rd, which is a waste. Super fans will still come for Super if it airs second, just like they did when it aired after Jack. Airing it after Kai just makes no sense.

The only thing they've aired similar to RE Zero is SAO and it's not similar to SAO at all other than the genre.

So episode 10 was actually pretty good, with some badly needed world building finally happening. It looks like the kids are all infected and that's why they never become adults. The city seems to be sparsely populated with frail adults. Apparently lots of them spend all their time in some sort of pleasure stimulation device.
