Hah Owl most of the youngins on here aren't gonna know who Jay Sherman is. I loved The Critic... very underrated show that got cancelled way too fast. But as he would say about BC.... IT STINKS. That reviewer gave it a B minus... but he kinda tears up the show during the review. I mean... this is almost scathing. There's a lot about Black Clover that makes it a frustrating contender for "next big thing" status. Most of its emotional beats are ripped from better Shonen Jump series, and the anime just comes across as flat and dull 90% of the time. But even then there are moments where I at least want to like this show. Even if its ambitions are to follow the generic Jump formula, I see potential for a well-executed version of said formula. "Potential" is the operative word there.

He specifically asked about currently airing shows though, and is already familiar with Jojo and HxH. So my answer of "no" stands =P Kai is almost over. Super is kinda worth watching atm but still not that great. Gundam is halfway through it's second season and not worth watching to start with unless you just enjoy any mecha anime. Black Clover... that's gonna be a no. Naruto... only if you already like Naruto. The rest of the lineup is half finished reruns.... you can check out Dandy since it's not really linear or anything. Some new shows should be starting in the next month or two, check back for those!

We're just so overloaded on Shonen already, there's just no way getting more mediocre Shonen is going to help Toonami. Though in terms of Mal rank, Boruto's 733 looks amazing compared to BC's mid 5000's.

Colleen is top tier talent and she's in pretty much everything Funimation does. 306 roles in 252 titles. Oddly she was the voice of 18 in Kai before they swapped back to the original VA in Super. Monica Rial, Chris Sabat.. regardless of how you feel about Super it's the A team of English dubs.

Nope because DBZ time travel works in mysterious ways. Doing stuff in the present has no effect on the future. When Trunks killed King Cold and Frieza, his timeline still recorded it as Goku killing King Cold and Frieza.

I'd say they're a bit wider than the majority of pics posted on here, but nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing a sane person would ever care about.

Good episode. Could have used that one about 6 episodes ago though. Because of the theme in this episode... monsters turning human, and humans turning into monsters, I'm starting to wonder if the Klaxosaurs are actually what Parasites turn into when they grow up or get rejected from the training. There's been suspiciously little info on the Klaxosaurs so far, so i'm starting to wonder.

I think the media push has been largely successful. It has name recognition and apparently the manga sells decently. It's never going to be a big hit in the west but even One Piece was never able to achieve that. I think it will get canned from Toonami after its 51 ep run but I think the anime itself will continue until the manga is over. But paying off Croll to say that it's "one of the best anime adaptations ever" is pretty sickening. Not any different than movie studios buying off critics so they'll say their movie was "A non stop ride of thrills!" Oh and the fluff pieces about baking the cupcakes from Black Clover were pretty lame as well. Come on Croll have a little bit of integrity. Don't be Shonen Jumps bitch. And just for fun here's the first review for BC on MAL This review is going to be short as possible and try to explain why this anime is fucking horrible.I don't even need to break down in different sections to explain how bad this anime is. The story is pretty much your run down the mill trying to be achieve high status so people can praise him. It's similar on how Naruto wants to be Hokage while Asta trying to be the wizard king. The fucking story is bland and it's literally FAR from original. Unlike Naruto, Asta is fucking pitifully annoying always running around and screaming like a maniac at least 100 times in every episode. Also get's a pretty much OP sword which him cuts magic and pretty much win everything. It's poorly executed even for a Shounen anime. It tries so hard to mask and act like it's Naruto but just x100 shitty version of it. Flashbacks in like almost every episode which tries to give character development but literally actually do the opposite rending the character looks bland and useless. The voice acting for Asta is dreadful. It's trying so hard to be Naruto and TRYING so hard to appeal to the younger audience fans. There's nothing special or even unique in the characters. They're all BLAND BLAND BLAND BLAND. I did not enjoy one second of this anime, I honestly thought this series will shine some light through the Shounen genre just like Academia did but this is probably one of the worst Shounen series there is. People who rates this garbage 7 to 10 is people who blindly watching it, a child, literally barely watches any anime, or don't care about plots but OP main hero that wins everything. This anime is fucking horrible. People who rates any higher than even a 3 should honestly feel bad. Please don't tell me either to read the manga. I already did and it's just as bad as the anime. Bland story, Art looks horrible, Horrible voice actors, and garbage character developments. 1/10 Trash. Just pure trash.

The only things really official are the ones taken from the manga. That second form Frieza power level is the last one Toriyama ever gave. Everything else is just guess work. But when you consider that Mecha Friza and King Cold were stronger than final form Frieza, and Trunks easily defeats them, but then can't beat the androids from his timeline which are only half as powerful as the androids from the other time line.. you get massive jumps in strength every new character. So the huge jumps seem reasonable.

That copy and paste didn't show up well, highlight it to see everything. That's as close to official as it gets, Frieza went from 530k to 120 mil during that saga. 17 and 18 are estimated at a billion. By the time you get to Ultra Perfect Cell you're up to 35 bil. When you're constantly introducing characters that are way more powerful than the last that's what happens. Videl is super weak, why would she be higher?

Well they're not canon or anything, because Toriyama lost interest in giving power levels with second form Frieza who was rated at a power level of 1 million. Things kinda uhhhh skyrocketed from there because every character Toriyama introduced was 10x more powerful than the last. When you do that, things escalate quickly. So the numbers are insane but totally reasonable by DBZ standards. You don't even wanna see the numbers for Super. Also worth noting, Gotenks SS3 is almost 4x as strong as Goku SS3. This is in line with something Toriyama once said about fusion forms being a full step ahead of their non fused counterparts.

You sure it's Pierott and not Shonen Jump? I'm pretty sure it's Shonen Jump pushing this so hard. It's a Naruto clone and they wanted a new Naruto bad. Everything else aside, the ratings were dismal. That's why it got moved. They don't care if a show is good or not. If it brought in ratings it would be near the top.

I think the original messed up and said Kid Buu was the most powerful, which was completely wrong. Kid Buu is on par with SS3 Goku. Buutenks was so powerful that SS3 Goku and Mystic Gohan didn't even try to fight him together. Buuhan was even stronger than that. But in addition to being the most evil and dangerous, Kid Buu seems to possess infinite regeneration. He doesn't tire or suffer energy loss no matter how many times he's blown apart, unlike other forms. He also can regenerate instantly, without any delay or effort.

But I just listed all the huge anime he shouldn't have been able to get because of Netflix. Yet they aired on Toonami. DXD S4 looks very similar to Akashic Records but apparently its a new studio with only 7 credits.

Did you see the change in art style for S4? Very unfortunate.

Do you remember the amount of time spent flying to Babidi's spaceship in the original? It must have been 5 episodes for all the different characters combined. Everything in the original version took forever. If Goku needed to take a leak it would have taken at least 3 episodes for him to finish.
