Smoothing is something I see new users abusing, almost like the ever cringey BLESSED DUO OF BEVEL & EMBOSS! Also , personally, I think showing him how to use the paint brush to feather would be better than the tool itself. Just my opinion, though. Gotta teach em how to BR before we hit dat noob combo, naw I'm sayin'?

Ok, so stupid question first, but have you made sure that the image you are trying to crop from isn't locked? By default an image would show up listed as "Background" in your layers sidebar and have a lock on it. Simply double-clicking it and hitting OK will remove it. Otherwise you can't modify it at all. So for more specific cropping, try and use something like the Polygonal Lasso tool, which can be found under the Lasso tool. You can also try the Pen tool and play connect the dots to achieve the same effect. Not sure why you were using a mask for cropping, but thinking about it, you could use it in tandem with the paintbrush but that seems a bit advanced for this.

I guess I need more info on what exactly your're trying to do? Screenshots would be helpful if you could provide some. I'm not sure why you would be using any masking tools for cropping. The lasso can be used for cropping but you may be using it incorrectly. Again, not sure what you're trying to do.

There should be a tool called the Rectangular marquee tool (will be towards the top of your tools on the lefthand sidebar by default). Select it and then draw out the rectangle over what you want to crop and then you can copy/paste it as you please. Make sure you are on the layer you want to pull from, though. Likewise there are other, non rectangular marquee tools that allow you to use different shapes or even draw your own customized one. You can also highlight the area with the same tool and go to the Image Menu and select crop and everything outside of it will go away.

Went from a crummy school to a nicer one when I was in the 3rd grade. Immediately got placed in the AP class. It had a different name, but it was the same concept. Can testify that all the students there were quite intelligent, some way more so than myself. Stayed a part of it for as long as it was offered. Once we hit high school we just had the typical AP/Honors stuff. It was like a thrice weekly class and let us skip math in particular. Did geometry, algebra, calculus, physics, and I believe a bit of trigonometry. Your scores on the tests in that class replaced all scores in your normal math class. Someone was failing and got placed back into standard classes, though. When we got to middle school we got to choose more specific classes. For example, I took engineering and ended up taking home a bronze medal for bridge building at the state Science Olympiad event. (We made the little wooden ones and they stress tested them with weights until they eventually snapped, and total weight sustained was used as placement for rankings, blah blah blah.) A good number of us maintained AP classes throughout high school. Beyond Composition/Writing and Art, I didn't take anything in high school, myself. Most of us went to the same college, as well, and reunited again in the honor programs for high GPAs. Lots of high scoring entrance exams, as you might imagine. Unfortunately, I had to withdraw from that school my junior year due to expenses and went to a different university, but I wound up being Valedictorian, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Might not be considered a celebrity, but Judith Barsi's death was fucking crazy. Despite being only 10-years-old, she was already an accomplished actress (one role you might recall her from is Ducky in The Land Before Time). Unfortunately, her father wasn't exactly a stable individual and, for whatever reason, her mother decided not to leave him even after he constantly threatened her, Judith, and warned he would kill them both and himself. Sadly, he kept his word and executed Judith while she slept, then turning to his wife and murdering her. He spent the next couple days moping around the house, his family's bodies still resting where he killed them. Then he told his daughter's agent he would be moving out for good and proceeded to incinerate the bodies and walked into his garage and shot himself as well.

I was 18. Likely would have happened a bit sooner but I was a big ole gal in high school. Slimmed way down at the end towards the beginning of college. That was with another girl at the end of a party. Was 19 when I first got with a guy. Neither...incident is of note. Boring teenagers being swept up by hormones and failing in bed.

Been going on dates recently and I can honestly say the first guy was out of my league in a lot of ways. Objectively speaking, I recognize that I land squarely in the middle of the "1-10" scale of attractiveness, and I'm not particularly successful or anything. But regardless we talked for awhile and went on a nice little date. Lots of interesting subject matter (and food) that evening. Spent just under 3 hours chatting away at the restaurant (I'm sure the staff was thrilled.) Hell, there was even a point in the conversation that we more or less whipped out the e-peens to show how good we were at games, going tit-for-tat all the while. That being said, there just wasn't anything there. Maybe a friendship, but judging by our mutual lack of communication since then I'd say no to that, too. (We continued texting for the following week but that was it.) Also, dude was 5 fucking hours late. Only reason I went was because he offered to pay for everything and take me somewhere fancy (and I was home waiting, not waiting at a restaurant for him). He was hella cute, but fuck that noise. Get it together and be punctual.
