  1. Love comes in various forms. Even if I were male, you could still love me and not hate yourself for it.
  2. He's mad he'd have to take me out to dinner first. I might be an evil motherfucker but I'm not cheap.
  3. <3 Gotta put all that studying poetry to use somehow.
  4. Important PSA. (Pooping Service Announcement.)
  5. As stated from the beginning of this absolutely transcendent poem by Fuggs, the events unfold from the beginning in a dream-like state, an introduction that hearkens to poets such as Blake and Poe; yet the language is grounded, simple, and even profane, which--with its insults like "stupid"-- demonstrates a tribute to Catullus. And its several turns, from cursing the coffee to the speaker turning their voice heavenward happen so quickly on the line and in the language. Such a visceral moment parallels the shifts in tone and mood that often accompany a bowel movement. That the poem is also written, as we're told, from the toilet, during lunch, we can only further see a quickness and impulsive free-writing that owes much to O'Hara and his iconic collection, "Lunch Poems" Some might be turned away from this style, given that its lack of punctuation can lead to multiple readings (is the speaker "shooting on their lunch" or "shooting during lunch?") but I argue such questions and confusion only speak to the condition in which the poem is written, and such a flaw adds to the humanity of Fugg's poetry. It's all quite marvelous, really.
  6. I appreciate the input and support, Lucifer.
  7. I listened to that album on repeat so frequently when I was a kid. Santa Monica, the final track on that album, is still one of my favorite songs of all time.
  8. which is so far the most interesting comment I've ever had about my eyes, and because it didn't make me feel ugly or self-conscious, and it was early in the morning, I absentmindedly thanked him and entered the convenience store. He was gone when I returned.

  13. Originality is mostly in execution, not in elements. Your elements could be considered piecemealing other ideas together, but until we see how they are working together, we can't truly know HOW original it is. Like, werewolves arent a new thing, but werewolves in the style of gritty detective novel turned poetry with stanzas and linebreaks and associative narrative movement is only ONE book: Sharp Teeth by Toby Barlow Neil Gaiman says something to the effect that only you can write the story you want, because YOU wrote it. I think that rings true too. We all bring our own experiences to writing, even if its a rehash of a classic
  14. At the time of posting this, the site crashed. Nice one, me.
  15. Perfect timing, since it's NaNoWriMo.
  16. I was given significant independence when I edited NIH, NSF, and NASA grants in grad school. If I didn't get paid at least fifteen an hour for making sure the science faculty of my university knew how to write a sentence (a lot of them didn't), I would have probably just blew the job off. But fifteen was a lot, so I worked hard. Hell, even when I taught kindergarten and first grade in a hagwon in South Korea, making the same wage as people who worked 30 hours a week while I worked 60, I still worked my ass off because I was making 2000 a month not including living wages. That's the most money I've seen from a job ever. Theres also this: A lot of people are simply worn down by being talked down to by the same people who request their services, because we live in a society that sees certain employment as inferior, despite the fact that it makes a small fraction of people VERY VERY rich, and feeds millions of people on a daily basis--a basic human need! If that isnt respected with an income that doesn't cover the employee's own basic needs, how can we demand so much of their work ethic? How can we berate them for asking for more when more only covers the standard?
  17. One of my hands is left-handed. The other is right-handed.
