Being a father to my stepdaughter and grandson has been the greatest joy of my life. Happy Father’s Day to everyone who shows up for their kids.

I’m a softie, my tears be flowing all the time. Here are just a few scenes that get me wet (with tears): SPOILERS I GUESS Théoden‘s speech at The Battle of Pelennor Fields in The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. I have a thing for sacrificial death to save others, I guess. There actually about five scenes that get me in this film, but this one is most consistent. Yondu’s sacrifice for Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. It would’ve gotten me just for that, but when he said “He may have been your Father, boy, but he wasn’t your Daddy” hits me so hard as a stepfather. (I may have watched this a few minutes ago and cried again). The last ten minutes of The Iron Claw. This one is fairly recent so I won’t go into details, but if you’ve got a brother, this film will kill you. And finally, The Wild Robot. Just puddles during this one. Be vulnerable!

I think I feel the same way? Political protests are not what they used to be. Even in situations where it’s utterly peaceful, the other side seems hellbent on fucking that up. Obviously that’s a feature and not a bug with this administration and they want to make protest scary for us, but I guess it’s worked on me, at least where the little guy is concerned.

I honestly don’t know how I feel either way. I’m thinking about going to the No Kings protest, buuuut…I’ve got my four year old grandson tomorrow too, so I don’t think it would be appropriate? I don’t know. What are your feelings?

I loved the experience of watching this with the boy. I think, had it just been on my own, I would’ve never made it. It was too meandering most of the time. How often did their damn ships break/get stolen, etc? The animation was gorgeous, and the humor was great. Glad I had a kid to watch it with.

Half-Life is so weird to me in that I know it’s great, and I like it, but I have never loved it, nor have I finished 1 or 2. I don’t know why. Excited for almost everyone else, at least.
