Should disinformation be protected by the 1st Amendment?
Insipid replied to _lost_username_'s topic in General Discussion
What an insufferable display of pseudo-intellect, or perhaps I should say psychological projection. Bitching about an administration is not the same thing as wanting to be a politician. Don't get me started on why you changed your SN, which is very relevant to the topic on hand. In the current shitty days of Trump, one should shoot the messenger, especially if he is a hypocrite.- 35 replies

Never give up the fight, of course. I'm just saying, these people that consistently go against their best interests are a waste of time and effort, especially in an age of global competition. They don't realize it's never gonna go back to the easy days when the rest of the world was still rebuilding their industries from the damage caused by WW2. I was thinking of calling these people lumpenproletariat, but there is a far more apt term that comes from the Indian caste system: dalit. In many ways, the US is becoming like India. Poetic, considering the treatment of the "Indians" (i.e. Native Americans).

I don't fucking care. Some people in third-world countries do everything right and never get the chance to get ahead just because of where they were born. Rural Americans still had plenty of leeway for error. Now, they won't. Their pathetic ways of living that are anti-progress in the face of globalization, which they still greatly benefited from, deserve to die.

Rural MAGAts really don't understand how fucked they are if this trade war with China doesn't swiftly end. Walmart would definitely choose to shut down stores serving sparsely populated areas first. And I will be absolutely callous to their suffering. Fuck all of them.

Warren Buffett has lost significantly less money than other billionaires after the liberation day tariffs were imposed. Before the tariffs, he had increased his stakes in several Japanese companies that were once zaibatsu, old school powerful clans, the most well-known being Mitsubishi. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/03/17/buffett-hikes-stakes-in-five-japanese-trading-houses-to-almost-10percent-each.html He also liquidated much of his assets to prepare for this retarded tariff moment. This man is the financial genius, not fucking Trump.

As much as I love to shit on American cars, it's also because Japanese and European cars are smaller in their respective markets. American car companies don't bother making kei style cars suitable for towns built before the invention of the automobile. Gas isn't subsidized to the extent in other countries that it is in the US, so ain't nobody buying gas fuzzling F150s for the hell of it.

This is old news; they've been doing this for two months now, since the first round of tariffs.

What Are You Thinking About Right Now?

Women read a lot more fiction than men. I realized I don't buy fiction all that much. Over 80 percent of books I buy are nonfiction. -
It's a possibility. It has been confirmed to have been written by a ghostwriter. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tony-schwartz-trumps-ghostwriter-says-writing-the-art-of-the-deal-is-the-greatest-regret-of-his-life/

I mean the Republican opponent officially conceded and dismissed rigging . . . so that's something, I guess. -
Yep, I was right. Also, notice how any deficit below 10 percent is rounded up to 10, to make it easier for the bullshit "reciprocal tariffs." The ones in negative percentage points are net importers. Trump is punishing net importers. 🙄

I found out why Cambodia is so high, and it's really stupid. It's just because Cambodia exports much more to the US than it imports. "In 2024, Cambodia exported goods worth $9.92 billion to the US, up 11.4%, while US imports to Cambodia amounted to $264.15 million, up by 2.7%. Total bilateral trade volume between the two nations reached $10.18 billion, a rise of 11.2% over 2023." https://m.phnompenhpost.com/national/cambodia-tops-list-of-new-trump-tariffs-49-#:~:text=In 2024%2C Cambodia exported goods, rise of 11.2% over 2023. 264.15m divided by 9.92b is about 2.7 percent. This mean the US has about a 97 percent trade deficit, which Trump is calling a tariff against the US. The sad thing is the average American won't understand the simple math involved here. This is one of the many reasons Republicans are gleefully gutting the Department of Education.
