so many of the greats make that mistake. it's hard to go out a winner in any sport since people that keep winning can obviously still compete and therefore dont see any need to retire.

just enjoy not going to work for a while then look for work. use this time to do things that you need to do and reflect on yourself. unemployment money usually lasts 6-12 months so no need to rush into anything.
