red is not an option in my house. i'm not sure why. wife made that clear for some reason, years ago. i did see a forest green one. it was a wrap and it had some funky graphics in it also, and the graphics were a little too loud for my taste.
-
i've only ever owned black or white vehicles. black gets dirty quick, but it looks fuck-ing-sharp when it's clean. white tends to look clean for longer. but desert tan? that shit will hide dirt for days. not interested in a tank though. won't fit in the driveway.
-
i drove another black one yesterday too. it was a little older, 160k miles and had an oil leak somewhere. it drove ok and was real clean. but that's a lot more miles than i'm comfortable with right now, as i'm looking for something i can easily keep on the road for the next 5-10 years.
-
i'm also not opposed to black. there's a black one on my short list too. it's a soft top, which has its advantages, but it's not set up how i'd like it. i can always fix those options later, but it's easier to buy it the way you want it. it's getting moved up to the dealership close to me today/tomorrow and i'll probably take it for a spin before making a decision.

the thought is growing on me. it took about five minutes of driving around in the city before i got the hang of it again. ngl, i killed it once at an intersection, and again trying to feel out reverse. but it was FUN. most of the driving i do is small town / country roads. if i lived in a city, i'd probably avoid a stick just because it would be unnecessary.

while very pretty, that is not one of the available choices. please review the post and make a selection from only the available choices.

i was really into the idea of a white jeep when i started looking for a new ride last week. and i found a used one that's set up with just about all the features i'm looking for. but then i took a spin in this desert tan version that kinda makes my pants tight. the tan one is a stick, and i haven't driven a stick in years. but it was like riding a bike, geared pretty low and easy to pick back up. i'm not opposed to going back to a stick after driving that. what to do, what to do...

And no more daft punk. Fucking hell.

So that one jeep that looked good online was fucked. I even called ahead so it could be cleaned up and ready for a test drive. Dead-dead battery, empty gas tank, hadn't been washed or even hosed off, standing water in the passenger running board, not a single intact wiper blade, 2x cracked windshield, all ext LEDs had condensation inside them, busted tail light. WTF mates? I couldn't even drive it off the lot for a test. It could have been in good condition overall, but all these missed details ruined it. And the rest of the options on their lot were just as bad. Ugh, moving on.

my baby, she is dead. tow guys were wrong -- engine isn't frozen up...at least not yet. it'll start, but it has no power and it dies after a few minutes. it's also leaking antifreeze and/or fuel into the oil. without spending a lot of time diagnosing the problem, we've decided it will cost too much to fix it (cracked head, blown head gasket, something else?) and so we're going to junk/sell it off. tow guys want me to give them a $ number to sell it to them for parts. however, someone who owned it a few years before i bought it also wants it. he says he has another engine he can put in there. and he's offering me $1000 for it, which i know i won't get from the junkyard. so at least i won't have any trouble getting rid of it. and i'm supposed to be going into the city tonight to look at a couple jeeps. i wanted another truck so i have something to haul shit, but wife said she wants something more fun. so we compromised. we're looking at jeeps, and i'll just pick up a trailer to haul shit instead.

they're probably getting a cut off the fees from that ATM, so it's actually not a horrible idea on their part. either they get the percentage on the direct payment, or they're getting a flat per-tx fee for people who try to save a couple bucks by using the ATM instead. and since the ATM is right there, people are more likely to use it and pay the $3 fee than leave the courthouse and find their own in-network ATM. the walmart approach is kinda genius in a "fuck everyone else" way.
-
for that high a fee, you can withdraw it at an in-network atm and use the savings on lube for when they ram that larger tax bill up your ass next year.
-
it's gonna be pricey. mf's wanted to charge me $50 to mail six bottles of beer cleaning solution to california.
-
i wish i was at the bar right now. but i'm on hold with my ATM vendor. apparently there was a weather event in texas or something, and it's causing service issues all over the place. good times.

i finally got in what i believe was the last couple pieces of hardware to build my control panel. depending on how ambitious i get this evening, i might try drilling a few holes in the panel to see how much trouble it will be to do all of it myself. if it goes well enough, i could maybe get it drilled out and ready to prime/paint over the weekend. i do have a dead truck that needs attention this weekend though, so that might take priority. it's always somethin'. -
not too bad. you?

they operate primarily as a junkyard, so i'm guessing they are trying to score a quick scrapper. little do they know, i have a rudimentary knowledge of automotive repair, and a BiL with extensive knowledge in engine repair.
-
right?!? their line of reasoning was simply they couldn't get it to crank over, even though i told them it died while in operation, and i could get it to jump but it would die after running for a minute. i'm assuming a bad alternator and cold weather combined to cause the mess. they were going to look a little deeper this afternoon and get back to me. i didn't pick them because they're good. i picked them because their shop was three blocks away and i knew they'd be able to tow it quickly, which was kinda a necessity since the truck was dead in the intersection.
-
they're telling me my baby is most likely dead. they think the engine seized up. and if they're right (i'm not confident in their diagnosis but they're technically the pros in this scenario), it's probably not worth the cost to fix her up at this point. she's 18 years old and has been one major breakdown away from getting retired, for probably 3 years now. she needs a new cluster, exhaust, 4 new tires, driver's door re-hung, new electronic lock and window motors, upholstery work, and she's starting to rust out underneath. but i loves her and don't want to lets her go. sadness. guess it's time i start thinking about a new ride. wife really wants me to get a jeep, but i don't know how much i like the idea of losing the truck bed. and i'm not getting one of those fugly jeep trucks. good times.

i just can't get into gaming on the switch. i -loved- the wii. especially after cracking it and doing the whole homebrew thing. i had a hard drive loaded with a ton of games, plus all the old s/nes roms. it was awesome. i didn't care if it wasn't up to par in terms of graphics, the experience was new and unique back in 2008 or 9 or whenever it blew up. for me, the switch doesn't capture any of that fun-ness i got from playing the wii. not sure why.

i remember turning 30... ...well, kinda. it's been awhile. actually, now that i think about it, i don't remember that birthday at all. or 40 for that matter. ugh.

i'm at the point in life where i most look forward to the weird patterns they can put on socks. my lower legs look like they're made of little puzzle pieces! so much fun.
-
i'm old enough once again that socks are in my high rotation of received gifts. so they don't get old before getting chucked and replaced.
-
my days of fucking anything that young are long gone. unless we're still talking about socks, that is.

hey hey guess what. drain pipes froze in the upstairs bathroom. didn't notice it til after i had put the youngest in a full tub for his bath. since the water couldn't go down, it decided to back up thru the other fixtures as it tried to find level. thankfully, the toilet drains on an interior line, so i spent 10 minutes frantically baling water from the tub to the toilet until water stopped flowing out the sink trap and into the floor. today's supposed to get all the way up to +15F, which only sounds cold until you realize it hasn't made it into double digits in a week.
