i broke character and responded to some bullshit on the bar's facebook page. i never do that because it's unproductive, unattractive, and unhealthy. but some random bitch said shit that got to me last night, and i couldn't hold back. now the karen klan is all up in arms. great. have i mentioned how much i hate facebook?

we were gonna brew that black ipa again tomorrow night at the brother-in-law's. but now that the rest of my house is in quarantine, i probably shouldn't be going and doing. maybe i can convince the wife to brew a small batch at home instead. i have some dry extract and a pile of special dark grains. maybe we can brew up a stout, and then give it the barrel-aging treatment in my new 3-gal fast-fermenter... -
not that it helps, but i can offer some explanation for vendor's actions. a pre-authorization is created at the moment of purchase. it's basically a reservation for the future transaction, as it reserves the funds in your account for the final charge. if a corresponding final charge doesn't post to the account within a specific amount of time (usually 72 hours) the pre-auth falls off the account. but that doesn't mean the final charge isn't still in the pipe, so to speak. also, you can always pay ahead on a credit card. if you know the amount of the transaction coming, you can just make a payment for that amount to the card now and it will be applied to the balance when the charge comes in.

yes, we already know this.

did you finally take a shower? that would explain most of the weight loss.

fucking post office. i have a package set to deliver today. got the notification that it was delivered at 10am. told the wife to grab it off the porch because it has some beats in it for the boy, and i don't want anyone to walk off with it. she replies to tell me we got a package, but it has our neighbor's name on it. so she takes it back to their front porch. i go home at noon, assuming the carrier came back around to drop ours off. nope. so i call the post office. they tell me my package was delivered across the street at 106, and to go get it from my neighbor. first off, wtf? so i go knock on their door. they got one package, but it was for them. she showed it to me to remove any doubt. call the post office back, they say they'll look into it. a few minutes later, the carrier stops by and asks me if i found my package. nope, sure didn't. he tells me i should ask all my neighbors if any of them got it. then he takes off to go look for it himself, or at least i hope that's where he went. how about, fuck you guy. you delivered at least 2 packages incorrectly on my block today. find my god damn package yourself. do your fucking job.

my black ipa finally smoothed out. only now, it's closer on the style chart to a dry-hopped stout. once you convince your brain to not expect the ipa flavor profile, it's actually quite good. with as thick and heavy as it ended up, it would have made a good candidate for whiskey barrel aging. maybe next fall... gonna try it again next week, and actually try to nail down the black ipa style this time. cut the dark grains by 2/3rds to reduce the tannins and roasted malt character...not sure how i calculated the grain bill so poorly last time. also gonna avoid hopping it so heavily on the cold side this time around. start low and build in later, seems like a better approach. still looking for a proper enclosure for my control panel, and then that build can begin. i *think* i have just about everything else i need at this point, except for a couple receptacles for the heating elements and some wire and ferrules. all quick grabs at the local hardware store, and i'm not in a hurry to get them until i figure out exactly what i'll need in that regard. wife is losing her patience with the growing pile of parts on the landing, and i can't blame her. it's a big pile. -
i can't fucking stand the phrase "computer illiterate" and the reason is simple: i can't play a piano for shit. but i'm not fucking piano illiterate. that's not even a thing. you either know how to make a thing your bitch, or you don't. but everyone knows how to hammer away at a piano key and make noise. literacy isn't even a factor. it's not like reading or learning a language, which take years of practice to move from "illiterate" to "literate." a computer doesn't require that kind of effort. and acting like it does...well that makes you the sweatiest of cunts. grow the fuck up. are you bicycle illiterate if you can't ride one? or are you just incompetent at riding a bicycle? how about fucking? if you suck in bed, are you sex illiterate? no, you're just a lousy lay. and probably a sad sack of shit, but i digress. do you know how to push buttons on a keyboard? how about a power button? can you grasp a god damn mouse and slide it about on the pad to make the little arrow move around your screen? then shut the fuck up about "computer illiterate" you lazy shitstain. take five minutes out of your apparently quite busy and important afternoon, and learn how to navigate a browser window. five minutes, that's all it takes. it's not that god damn hard. fuck your "computer illiterate" excuses right in their fat ass.

Hey did i tell y'all im making some alcohol?
wacky1980 replied to SwimModSponges's topic in General Discussion
i stand corrected. it's illegal in the same way that homebrewing beer/mead was illegal before 1979. not sure how strictly it's regulated though. you can legally buy distilling equipment and ingredients all over the internet and in local homebrew shops. i'd wager if you had a home still in your basement for personal use and the feds found out, they'd likely look the other way. -

i don't think distillation is illegal if you're only doing it for your own personal use. but i'm not familiar with freeze distillation so i'm gonna stop right there. -
i reworked the recipe to dump the beans and remove as many carbs as possible, since i'm on a FUCKING DIET and i'm trying really hard to eat <20 grams of carbs a day. ended up making a batch that clocked in at ~150 grams in 2 gallons of chili. assuming a person eats a pound of chili for a meal (yeah that's a lot, fuck you), that's around 10 grams per meal. YOU'RE GOD DAMN RIGHT.

that's a nice pick-up! i've eyeballed that catalyst fermenter for small batch stuff at home. add a sampling port and temp control, and you've got yourself an awesome little piece of kit. my only concern was introducing atmosphere into the fermenter when you slap on a fresh mason jar and open the valve. it should be super-easy to clean and maintain. just make sure you don't scratch that acrylic on the inside during cleaning, or you'll have a hard time keeping the scratch from housing bacteria. -

what fermenter did you get? a nice fermenter is the last big purchase i have left before i fire up my brew schedule. carboys are ok and they're dirt cheap by comparison, but they're a pain in the ass for transfers and cleaning. -
wife is excited about that one. i only ever played thru re2, but she's done pretty much all of them over the years. she won't do re7 in vr though, too scary for her. it's pretty brutal, ngl.

so demon's souls is fucking amazing in 1440p60. i avoided the souls franchise until now because i didn't want to dedicate that much effort to a video game, but this looked beautiful and it was out on launch day. it was either this or godfall, which looks like it's gonna be a shiny turd. i spent the first 3 or 4 hours cussing and reconsidering my life choices. then shit started to click, and now i'm hooked. the ps5 controller is just stupid immersive. the maps and visuals are so pretty. and this is just a launch day game? i can't wait for what's coming in the next year+.

been doing this keto diet for a month now. this morning i was down to 199, from 217 back on oct 12. the plan was to knock off 10% of my total weight, which would be around 195. but now i'm thinking, i can probably push that out to 15%...or maybe even 20%. wtf is this? it's like a weird addiction. i hate dieting with a passion, but now i want to keep going. i'm becoming that which i despise -- a health nut. ewwwwwwwww

my eyes aren't compatible with resolutions that high. reason #392 why ps5 is better for me.
