Yep...still bleeding from the gum hole. Maybe some more whiskey will plug that shit up!

I'm all over that one. Brought home a new bottle since I knew I was about out of the good pills. Just gotta sip from the right side of my mouth.

Narrator: he shouldn't have done that. 2 rounds of numb numb before the pain was bearable enough to let them pull it. They almost gave up and sent me up for a surgical extraction. In the end, they got the whole tooth and some bone fragments too. Didn't Rx me any pain meds. My face is already bruising up, and pain is the first and only sensation coming back to my mouth so far. Between all of that and the 2nd moderna shot this morning, it's gonna be a great weekend. But at least it's all gonna be done and over with at once. Yippee.

so i talked to the dentist and they moved my appt up for the wisdom tooth extraction, from monday 2pm to tomorrow 10am...which is great, right? except for, my 2nd moderna shot is tomorrow at 9:45am. good thing i don't have anything going on this weekend...

I've been thinking of taking a swing at making whiskey. I spent the last couple days toasting some oak for a beer project, but now I'm thinking it might be more fun to distill some liquor and then age it on the toasted oak. God damnit, just what I need...another distraction. -
gotta get this wisdom tooth pulled out before it kills me. only dentist in town doesn't have an opening til next monday. maybe the vet can squeeze me in ...

man, i'm filling this fucking thread and i apologize for that. i hate that i feel the need to say that, but got damn. so i took the day off from the bank because i have been fighting some corp tax filing issues, and this was going to be the day i figured it all out and righted that ship. i'm on hold on my second call into the IRS already this morning. first one took a full hour before i got a person. second one is only about 15 minutes deep. but i finally figured out why we're missing so damn many federal returns. my fucking accountant (who i've ranted on in the past for similar reasons) was apparently filing our wage reports and even our annual income tax return under the tax id for the previous owners. their corp dissolved after we bought up their assets, but she's been filing returns on them instead of us, which has prompted unpleasant calls from that old owner saying WE fucked them over on taxes, which i obviously told them wasn't true because that wouldn't make a lick of sense. FUUUUUUUUUUCK. this explains so much of the bullshit! needless to say, i got rid of that accountant a year ago, but now i have to go back to her again and see if she's sitting on those old returns, and they're just in the wrong customer file. i fucking hope so, because i don't want to have to rebuild and resubmit all of that shit 2 years after the fact. hopefully i can prove original filing dates, because the penalties on that shit will be huge if i can't.

guy wanted to pay for our membership into a community org. it's an economic development non-profit that helps local businesses with marketing/promotions, and they do community-based projects and manage certain events and whatnot. we've acted as a vendor for several of their events, and donated a lot of money to them in the past. they started asking businesses to buy in as members a couple years ago, in exchange for access to the benefits they had been offering for free for several years. it's a membership that provides us little value, and imo our donations (several times the annual dues buy-in) should probably qualify us for a membership, if we wanted one. but we don't. and then there's the part where the guy who offered the charity, is also a board member at the bank. it doesn't necessarily complicate the situation, but it makes that relationship awkward, regardless of how we responded to the offer. nothing occurs within a vacuum, especially in a small town. oh, he's also the head of another foundation that has heavy ties to this organization. so essentially he's recruiting.
-
a wealthy member of the community offered us some charity this morning for the business, under the assumption that we need the help since we've been shut down periodically over the last year. i had to tell him no thanks, but i had to do it in a way that doesn't sound ungrateful. people just assume we're hurting because a lot of other places are, but we're actually doing really well since we got opened back up in january. it's kinda offensive at this point, people acting like they get to be our savior. no thanks guy, we got it.

was it this guy who told you about it?

i got most of the control panel assembled over the last couple days, but still have to install the controllers and then wire it all up. once it's all done, i'll post up a pic. in the meantime, i'm studying up on HERMS plumbing right now. this diagram is shit, but it kinda captures the basic concept: water in, heat in, grain in; circulate, boil, chill; and out to the fermenter. -
i fucking hate it when people come up to me after getting wasted the night before and they're all like "i gave you all my money last night." no, bitch, you didn't give me anything. you purchased booze voluntarily. you spent your money. i'm not a fucking charity. that wasn't a donation. you think i owe you something? i don't. but since you asked, here's a tylenol. now get thirsty or fuck off.

but he's not an expert.

we bottled 10 gallons last night: 5 gallons of chocolate milk stout (turned out excellent), and 5 gallons of the "stale ale" from the old ingredients discovery. the stale ale turned out a lot darker than we anticipated, and it tasted like dried fruit, molasses, and tin can...so the jury's still out. -
this thread full of gold, and i'm hung up on a cannon that shoots vampires.
