It's about time to officially embrace the spooky season (for me at least) since I somehow haven't seen any of these films, and The Terrifier series has supposedly grown over the years into a nice slasher film box office success story. Yes the horror section looks like it's open again but I don't see any new posts since 2024 so I'm putting this here for now. Also while I'm at it post some of your own favorites. (short films/low budget indie experimental encouraged)

I'm about to kick this off by starting with this old gem I found on YouTube. Cheers!  :pumpkin::balloon::spookyskull::balloon::pumpkin:

The Terrifier movies are pretty good, mostly for the extreme gore/effects.

This was stupid AF but also highly entertaining, it fits both indie and short as it's just barely over an hour.

This was pretty weird and interesting.

And for something newer I really enjoyed the X/Pearl/MaXXXine trilogy

I'm even more curious now lol... Netflix hasn't really done me right since stranger things, and I'll never be a subscriber again but I have my ways. :LithiumSmileyWinking:

spits out beer.... It's Amazon dumbass. Hmmm.  Imma check it out thanks. :LithiumSmiley:

Amazon prime really aint that much better though. I can't stay subbed to any streaming service tbh, and amazon prime vid does host a lot of series I like..

Like at least 3 or 4 tv series  I'll resub for when they finally greenlight and air a new season.

I've actually been helping AutoZone's upper management set up a new warehouse or "megahub" the last few weeks which meeans me and a longtime manager have just been extra warehouse hands commuting quite a bit so I've  had less time then usual to make posts like this, but the premier All Hallows Eve definitely didn't disappoint. The 3 shorts were all pretty dope especially the one tht had an alien as the monster while Art the clown was just an ominous painting.

I had to follow up watching those by watching the first Terrifier film which didn't really disappoint at all, and I was surprised. I think I'm about ready to watch Terrifier 2 which from looking at things is like peak art the clown shenanigans.. Imma try to watch all suggestions as well but I have to finish my Terrifier journey first lol.

On Tubi: Willow Creek is a good low budget movie. Realistic bigfoot horror. It's in the "found footage" genre which for some reason has become my favorite type of horror movie.

"The Tunnel" is another one in this genre that I liked. It's an Australian film about a news crew going down into abandoned tunnels beneath Sydney to figure out why the govt abandoned an infrastructure project.

I watched a bunch of low budget Lovecraft adaptations & derivatives this summer but only one stood out as actually really good. Can't remember what the hell it was called though and searching for it has been a pain. I've never read any Lovecraft because what a freak that guy was, but I'm familiar with the general vibe and this one especially captured the feeling of "madness" and losing sanity/the viewer not even being sure of what is going on and which scenes are really happening. I'll try to figure it out.

Cool thread!

@Ric Thanks again for the old goofy Japanese horror movie suggestion. It came in pretty clutch after watching Terrifier 3. The scene where Art and associate are picking apart the last girls whole family with her tied up actually disturbed me a bit,

and that's pretty hard to do lol.

Has anybody watched the film series they discuss in this video. Terror Ted's Tales is often more tin-foil-hat than anything from what I've seen but I've been wondering if movies from this guy are really as bad as everyone is claiming here. According to the MammaMaxesque youtuber they feature on this show the producer brainwashes girls to use as actresses then really fucks them up for the movies, but it seems like a load of publicity bullshit to me.

Zero police action has been taken, and the dude has a pretty credible Hollywood portfolio at this point so it seems more likely all this is just the result of even edgier edge lords buying into edge lord marketing tactics, but.. It's left me curious.

Was considering making this a stand alone thread but it fits in pretty well here anyway. I might add some of the more established shorts they discuss to my horror binge list, but I'm really NOT that big on vomit gore and shit like that... Anybody else here even heard of this shit? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaughtered_Vomit_Dolls The guy's real name is Shawn Fedorchuk. He has rewards for working on the title sequence of True Blood, The Grid etc. but it's those vomit films of his that crisscrossed all the conspiracy kids wires on reddit. If he really has so many people convinced he's a criminal and his gore is real when it isn't he has to be good at something though right?

I found the first one "Slaughtered Vomit Dolls" and it looks sloppy as shit. I'm just 10 minutes in but can't see what all the fuss is about.. :LithiumSmileyIndifferent:

To kind of conclude my little dive into that rabbithole that rose from the dead.. that shit is just TRASH of course. I mean it's not even that disturbing. The video and audio effects are so over done at some points the shit almost looks like stop motion and it's not..This shit is so old anyway that I'm just gonna post it in a spoiler for posterity with a nudity and fairly nasty vomit disclaimer, but not even the vomit scenes were that disturbing to me. After fast forwarding through sections of complete edit slop I got too bored to keep going and just clicked off like 40 minutes in.

From what I gather this guy "Reckless Ben" just recently posted a expose style documentary video on YouTube about "Lucifer Valentine" that revived a lot of the conspiracy hype.  I will say that if that Ben dude's voice and antics in the video are just for comedic effect they are a nice touch, but I'm over it. :LithiumSmileyLaugh:

i just got rid of hulu for multiple reasons. i'm going to miss 'bob's burgers', it lulled me to sleep. i know every episode up to this current season.

and 'alien: earth'. and i'm sure a few other shows...however, i also see them on amazon. however i'm not paying extra on top of the 15$ for bob's or anything else. prime is my max out pay for that....and i'll probably drop it in a year.

i'll never get rid of netflix. not ever.

and probably not hbo/max because DC.

Other than Bob's Burgers, what other shows that have been AS staples are on Hulu?

Futurama had a new season exclusive to hulu, and it was alright... Just seems like they tried to force in a lot of the same silly situational jokes used in previous seasons that didn't hit as hard for me at least,

but all in all it wasn't terrible.

i thought family guy was on there at one time.

i think there were a couple animes? and i may be wrong, but i thought a couple of the live action silly shit? and i want to say some tim and eric shit.

but netflix is still pretty good with the anime (IMO and for what i watch)

amazon has crunchroll access...but i was handed off a secret code for free stuff. ...... and now i've said too much.

idk but my internet provider the it company I used to work for just gave me 6 months free hulu + Disney+ Let's gooo! Also my phone plan with them is free for a year, and they use the same network I had with boost so don't have to worry about less coverage or anything.

Curse of chucky was very good. And the sequel, but that story line leads into the show.

So I see... That there is actually a show....Or was, but it was cancelled. Interesting. There's probably a lot for me to catch up on at least there. I remember my best friend growing up had a hardcore fear of chucky from watching the original Childs Play movies at a super young age, and that was always a thing I had to do this time of year if that guy was acting extra pompous. Time for some good old fashioned Chucky jump-scares lol.

Not to spoil anything but the first time he talks to her is fucking epic. She’s scared of the storm and she looks a chucky and says “chucky, I’m scared” and he gives this low quite chuckle and says “you fuckin should be”. 10/10

The only thing that ever got me about chucky, and I know they;ve tried to cover it a lot with all the lore. You can't just yeet him like a normal doll and expect to be done I get it, but he's so fucking small if that dude was talking shit to me my instinct would be to just punt him field goal style...hand visor shading the eyes like it's going, going, GOOD! I know he's got a lot of...plot armor brains over brawn going for him, and each film or story with him has him solve the whole 2' 3 height issue somehow but....

It's always made it hard for me to be afraid of him in particular since he likes to trash talk, and I'm just like dolls are creepy is fuck anyway...when in doubt yeet that motherfucker  idk even older adult victims flight or fight always takes conveniently way to long to kick in for me.

Yeah what makes him creepy is the hiding in plain site. He’s more of the black widow of the icons. An opportunistic hunter.

He has to sew himself up, even though he doesn't bleed...Which I get adds to the creepy factor and can mess with victims that previously tried to destroy the doll... Chucky just obviously wasn't created to scare pyromaniacs like me I guess. Sure give me more reasons to raid my families homes for creepy dolls to light a bonfire with. Not gonna lie dolls are creepy af and sometimes they do disturb fuck out of me. My grandmother had some of those old (for her time super pricey fancy commissioned dolls), and I straight up refused to sleep or even be in the same room with some of those for years.  She wouldn't even object to me being like...that shit has to go somewhere else if you expect me to even stay in the room it was in....

I'm yeeting this shit to the fucking back of your big ass wardrobe closet you can put it back when I leave the tri-county area. :LithiumSmileyLaugh:
