PhilosipherStoned Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) It's about time to officially embrace the spooky season (for me at least) since I somehow haven't seen any of these films, and The Terrifier series has supposedly grown over the years into a nice slasher film box office success story. Yes the horror section looks like it's open again but I don't see any new posts since 2024 so I'm putting this here for now. Also while I'm at it post some of your own favorites. (short films/low budget indie experimental encouraged) I'm about to kick this off by starting with this old gem I found on YouTube. Cheers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lC_5Av9VeA Edited October 3 by PhilosipherStoned 1 Quote
Ric Posted October 3 Posted October 3 The Terrifier movies are pretty good, mostly for the extreme gore/effects. This was stupid AF but also highly entertaining, it fits both indie and short as it's just barely over an hour. This was pretty weird and interesting. And for something newer I really enjoyed the X/Pearl/MaXXXine trilogy 1 1 Quote
André Toulon Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Ive been watching old grindhouse movies....just ridiculous. Might dig up some Tromaville shit 1 Quote

The 3 shorts were all pretty dope especially the one tht had an alien as the monster while Art the clown was just an ominous painting. I had to follow up watching those by watching the first Terrifier film which didn't really disappoint at all, and I was surprised. I think I'm about ready to watch Terrifier 2 which from looking at things is like peak art the clown shenanigans.. Imma try to watch all suggestions as well but I have to finish my Terrifier journey first lol. Edited Sunday at 02:49 AM by PhilosipherStoned 1 Quote
Noob Posted Sunday at 08:13 AM Posted Sunday at 08:13 AM (edited) On Tubi: Willow Creek is a good low budget movie. Realistic bigfoot horror. It's in the "found footage" genre which for some reason has become my favorite type of horror movie. "The Tunnel" is another one in this genre that I liked. It's an Australian film about a news crew going down into abandoned tunnels beneath Sydney to figure out why the govt abandoned an infrastructure project. I watched a bunch of low budget Lovecraft adaptations & derivatives this summer but only one stood out as actually really good. Can't remember what the hell it was called though and searching for it has been a pain. I've never read any Lovecraft because what a freak that guy was, but I'm familiar with the general vibe and this one especially captured the feeling of "madness" and losing sanity/the viewer not even being sure of what is going on and which scenes are really happening. I'll try to figure it out. Cool thread! Edited Monday at 05:21 AM by Noob Quote
discolé monade Posted Sunday at 01:52 PM Posted Sunday at 01:52 PM OH 'night of the comet' is on tubi. one of my favorite all time movies as a teen. there's actually a LOT of great classic horror on tubi. 1 Quote
PhilosipherStoned Posted Tuesday at 03:24 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:24 AM @Ric Thanks again for the old goofy Japanese horror movie suggestion. It came in pretty clutch after watching Terrifier 3. The scene where Art and associate are picking apart the last girls whole family with her tied up actually disturbed me a bit, and that's pretty hard to do lol. 1 Quote
PhilosipherStoned Posted Tuesday at 04:42 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 04:42 AM (edited) Has anybody watched the film series they discuss in this video. Terror Ted's Tales is often more tin-foil-hat than anything from what I've seen but I've been wondering if movies from this guy are really as bad as everyone is claiming here. According to the MammaMaxesque youtuber they feature on this show the producer brainwashes girls to use as actresses then really fucks them up for the movies, but it seems like a load of publicity bullshit to me. Zero police action has been taken, and the dude has a pretty credible Hollywood portfolio at this point so it seems more likely all this is just the result of even edgier edge lords buying into edge lord marketing tactics, but.. It's left me curious. Was considering making this a stand alone thread but it fits in pretty well here anyway. I might add some of the more established shorts they discuss to my horror binge list, but I'm really NOT that big on vomit gore and shit like that... Anybody else here even heard of this shit? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaughtered_Vomit_Dolls The guy's real name is Shawn Fedorchuk. He has rewards for working on the title sequence of True Blood, The Grid etc. but it's those vomit films of his that crisscrossed all the conspiracy kids wires on reddit. If he really has so many people convinced he's a criminal and his gore is real when it isn't he has to be good at something though right? I found the first one "Slaughtered Vomit Dolls" and it looks sloppy as shit. I'm just 10 minutes in but can't see what all the fuss is about.. Edited Tuesday at 05:32 AM by PhilosipherStoned Quote
PhilosipherStoned Posted Tuesday at 06:43 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 06:43 AM (edited) To kind of conclude my little dive into that rabbithole that rose from the dead.. that shit is just TRASH of course. I mean it's not even that disturbing. The video and audio effects are so over done at some points the shit almost looks like stop motion and it's not..This shit is so old anyway that I'm just gonna post it in a spoiler for posterity with a nudity and fairly nasty vomit disclaimer, but not even the vomit scenes were that disturbing to me. After fast forwarding through sections of complete edit slop I got too bored to keep going and just clicked off like 40 minutes in. Spoiler https://www.effedupmovies.com/slaughtered-vomit-dolls-2006/ From what I gather this guy "Reckless Ben" just recently posted a expose style documentary video on YouTube about "Lucifer Valentine" that revived a lot of the conspiracy hype. I will say that if that Ben dude's voice and antics in the video are just for comedic effect they are a nice touch, but I'm over it. Edited Tuesday at 06:45 AM by PhilosipherStoned 1 Quote
PhilosipherStoned Posted Wednesday at 02:38 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 02:38 AM @discolé monade I'm watching the first episode of Them now... The tensions already through the roof I guess. It has been really good though. Those sets look picture perfect. Livia Emry loading up the Glock at midnight was a nice touch... I'm so uncomfortable right now though lol. 1 Quote

Futurama had a new season exclusive to hulu, and it was alright... Just seems like they tried to force in a lot of the same silly situational jokes used in previous seasons that didn't hit as hard for me at least, but all in all it wasn't terrible. 1 Quote
