Maybe it's for the best. He's become so sterilized and unfunny these days. The last bit he did that I liked was when he made fun of bronies, and that was over ten years ago.

That’s a shame. I stopped listening to him when he went over to satellite. I just never got a sub but I know he played a big part in making satellite radio a bigger thing, way faster than had he not made the move.

I read his latest book a few years back and he really changed he really wasn’t happy with some of the things he had done and the fucked up shit he said and did to people.

I don’t know that much about how he is outside of radio but he seems like a really loyal guy. He has been partnering with Robin forever. Ba ba booey been around a long time too. I think stuttering John is long gone but that was his choice, I think. Not 100 on that

His show and Sirius you sorta just get with the fancy car since the past decade.

I found him an odd duck for wanting everything he ever did burned upon his death. He went nuclear on the 9/11 show and said fucked up shit like everyone else that was able to broadcast that day. It’s the past. Those uploads from that particular event didn’t need to be taken down astronomically. Not like they profit off the antique shit.

If it’s genuinely because he wants to be a good guy now, fine. Like yeah torch your blackface episodes but the entire library doesn’t really do much for your conscience.

It was an era of radio. It was a moment in time. It was a genre that bred your Jake and Logan Pauls. It bred the Andrew Tates and other influencers of that style. Not so much the red pills, but the shock based ones.

BTW, he’s still on the air.

I’ve heard things since OP ranging from “he threw a meltdown at his staff” “he made fake accounts for interviews/boosting dying interaction” “he ackshully didn’t get cancelled and is getting paid more.”

Because all the articles I look up on it are pussyfooting, I’ll just leave it a mystery.

fucking google, amirite?

Howard Stern is not off the air for good, though his future with SiriusXM beyond 2025 is uncertain as his contract nears expiration. He recently returned to the show on September 8, 2025, after taking time off for personal reasons and to address rumors of his departure, which he called "bad rumors". He also pulled an elaborate prank on listeners by having Andy Cohen briefly take over his airwaves, claiming Stern was fired.

What happened:
  • Extended Hiatus:
Stern delayed his return to the show, citing illness and a need to focus on his health after attending a Metallica concert.

  • Prank Return:
On September 8, 2025, Stern returned after a humorous prank where Andy Cohen announced the show was ending. Stern clarified it was a hoax and he would not be leaving the show.

  • Rumors of Cancellation:
In August 2025, reports surfaced that Stern's show was being canceled, and his SiriusXM contract, which expires at the end of 2025, would not be renewed.

What's next:
  • Opens in new tab
While his return to the show was a prank and he has called cancellation rumors "bad rumors," his ultimate departure from SiriusXM is not yet confirmed.

Didn't even know he was still on the air somewhere.  Was never a fan, always considered him (along with Dahl, Brandmeier, Mancow, Imus, etc.) as the most responsible for killing Top 40 radio.  Now it's talk or niche, it's hard to find a station that plays across genres.

If I had just ended a $100M contract and I was 70, I would say "screw contracts and work obligations." It's like, he's made hundreds of millions off of Sirius/XM at this point. Not saying he should stop working but why go back to a situation where you have to work? At 70 you're kind of at the age where unexpected stuff can happen or something can appear and take you down within a couple of years.
