I thought the kid voice was Vic and the adult voice was always Johnny Yong Bosch.

It wouldn't be the first time Vic wasn't considered manly enough to play the adult version of a character.  Same thing happened with Obito. 🤣

no, Vic was cast as adult sabo. i think i remember him voicing the character in something, but they dumped him and cast johnny yong bosch as his replacement

i read the episode summary online and it said he left on "birds". but if it was crows, specifically, then i understand what was really happening

I was wondering about that.  I thought it was the news seagulls at first but Sabo was riding on them and then one of the birds talked to him. 😄

the tv special Episode of Sabo was dubbed before funimation got to Punk Hazard. Vic Mignogna was cast and played Sabo in the dub for that special. but by the time One Piece: Stampede came out, he'd been replaced with Johnny Yong Bosch. and i think the dressrosa dub was done after that ( i think)

Yeah, that's right. There was a break in the dub production for a year or two, and I think they put out Episode of Sabo soon after they resumed as a way to drum up hype for the big arcs they'd be dubbing in the future. Fortunately McGropey was already out of the picture before they hit Dressrosa proper and we got the big upgrade to JYB. Fun fact: his original Japanese actor, Toru Furuya, was also involved in an awful sex scandal and stepped down from the role. If I had a nickel for every time etc. Morgan Garrett is credited as young Sabo's voice.

I also seem to remember Vic playing Sabo in Film Gold. I plan on watching that one after Toonami airs the tie-in filler, a la what I did with Film Z, so yeah, that's one downgrade I'm gonna hafta brace myself for.
