We may have actually gotten #3. Tonight One Piece will air its 6th Double-Header in a row with no signs of stopping.

I didn't think any of those would happen, but if one of them did? It would be the one where they up the Straw Hat budget.

I wouldn’t sign that check until the May schedule update. If they keep this up till May 17, that’s a 10 episode debt. They already paid one off the first week of the year, and the last 2 weeks of the year are always off, so that’s 7 more to pay off. A full series Lazarus marathon for 2 weeks is highly likely, so that’s 5 left. That’s a manageable amount still.

If we get to the May shuffle and it’s still going double, they either bought extra or are burning through it irresponsibly and we will pay for it later.

A permanent expansion. - Considering Toonami Rewind didn't make it to January, moving their shows to the back end of Saturday, this would be a miracle. Nevertheless, I do not care how early or late they expand. They can take the whole 13-hour night for all I care. Actually, that would be too big even for ME to wish for...

I’ll never understand why people ask for this when the block is in the state it’s in. It’s seven slots now and it sucks so hard, more slots just means more suck. They need to make what we have good before anyone talks about any form of expansion.

Beg your pardon--I was wrong. As we got DBZ Kai on 3/1, this is only the 5TH Pirate Power Hour in a row in 2025.

Still worth noting, compared to previous years.

Imagine if they got fucking Yaiba: Samurai Legend or Witch Watch. Frfr from the feels of these, these would feel well on some equivalent of CN Toonami if that was still around, the fact both are rated PG....I want CN to pick them up and run them on Saturdays with Iyanu.

Netflix has it.

AND Hulu. Vix has the rights. GKIDS has Witch Watch. If they gave a damn, both shows could be on next month

12.0 Lazarus Dubbed
12.5 Yaiba: Samurai Legend
1.0 Witch Watch
1.5 Blue Exorcist Season 2
2.0 One Piece
2.5 Lazarus Subbed
3.0 Naturo
3.5 Sailor Moon

Take a look at the April 26th schedule. In a break from the norm, Lazarus is listed with its proper episode for the night, while the rest of the schedule is blank. So we may have some kind of schedule update dropping tomorrow.

Most logical option would be One Piece trimming down to 1 episode and the Lazarus sub sliding into the open slot. That’s a little earlier than the one month stated by Deadline, but that was never written in stone either.

Naruto and Sailor Moon could be on their way out a bit earlier than expected. Considering they didn’t have the right date for DBZ leaving though, I don’t see them planning ahead for when this happens.

And the least likely, maybe they are actually getting a new show? Seems a bit odd to start that on the 26th rather than waiting a few weeks for CSE and BE to end though.

At this rate, I'll take an update.

I would've given them another month, if I wasn't given a full year for those shows. But since we see seven slots taken by the block, cutting the last two of them sounds a bit unlikely.

A new show at the end of a month? Absurd, yet interesting.

"On April 26th, don’t miss our special musical guests Ginger Root as they wrap up the end of the block with their visual album Shinbangumi!"

Got to admit, this is pretty damn cool, even if we have to stay up until 3 AM to see it!! Could have lost a One Piece to trim the block down to 3.5 hours, but we're not!

I don’t know what that is and I don’t think that I care either.

I am very surprised that One Piece is still trucking forward with two episodes. This would have been a good excuse to preserve one.

Bets on if Sailor Moon returns the following week?

Well, that's a nothingburger of a schedule update. Neat, sure, but not really hopeful for the block's longevity/ability to secure acquisitions.

I think this is it?

The upside? This is certainly an unexpected thing to air on present-day Toonami. It vaguely reminds me of Interstella: 5555 in theory.

The downside? It airs at 3 in the morning, below even Naruto reruns, and it looks like the lone bright spot of Toonami Rewind's remains might be leaving early.

Overall, not something I would've presented without an update for next month.

Surely this is just the visual for the YouTube video, right? And they aren’t going to air a train going in a circle for an hour, right?

If THIS is what it is then it would explain why they tossed it to 3AM rather than air it earlier in the block to save some precious One Piece episodes or something.

EDIT: I don’t think that video is what will be airing. Seems they made a vintage style anime for this. It's subtitled and could certainly turn off their regular viewers just by the look of it so 3AM is a much safer bet than earlier in the block but at this point they could have played it at 1:30 without much concern.

Online schedule updated, Sailor Moon returns to its timeslot the following week.

Which leads us to ask, if this wasn’t a way to stealth delete Sailor Moon, why not pull Naruto and SM on the 26th so this music video thing can air at a slightly more reasonable time right on the heels of premier content? With a bonus feature of not offsetting the blocks runtime for one week. Not like anyone would miss either show for one week.

Whatever the case, with that sorted, we are now moving into the strike zone of CSE and BE ending. The post CSE schedule goes live next Sunday, so I would hope they have some kind of announcement this Friday. We are dying for any kind of news at this point so it would be nice if they didn’t take us down to the two week wire for once, especially if it’s another “we have nothing” schedule.

Best case: we get BE season 2 and the return of one of our staples (Stone, MHA, ect)

Worst Case: we get Lazurus Subs and another rerun of an AS original

Skipping a Naruto would put them in danger of  not finishing Land of Waves if the show leaves in May but they probably weren’t thinking about that.

No schedule update yesterday, probably to no one’s surprise. But Aniplex has a panel at Sakura Con today from 6:30 to 7:30 PM PST this evening. The timing is right to announce Blue Exorcist Kyoto Arc if nothing else.

I know we should expect more, but with greater competition nowadays, at least it's something.

With Common Side Effects and Blue Exorcist ending their respective reruns on the same day, it'd be absolutely clinically moronic for Toonami not to announce an acquisition to replace either one or both, especially after four whole months of no new (read: premiering from the start) anime this year besides Lazarus.

Would be neat if we could get another double announcement from them. They still have some Demon Slayer and Mashle too. At this point, anything from their catalog that isn’t a rerun is welcome.

Hmm, I had thought they were offset a week, but you are right, both shows end on May 3rd. If this panel doesn’t reveal something it will be even more concerning that we didn’t get an update yesterday.

Two Aniplex premiers + Lazarus subbed replacing the second One Piece should absolutely be doable but I’m sure they will find a way to let us down.

Well that’s what I get for having any kind of expectations.

So means this upcoming Friday is where we turn our focus. Yea they could delay it longer but with two slots to deal with, I don’t think they will have that luxury.

They can certainly hold out till the week before. One slot can go to Lazarus subbed and the other could just be another rerun. Primal perhaps. And there's always dropping a slot but I think they'll have something other than One Piece or Lazarus sub at 12:30AM even if its another rerun.

Wishful thinking they managed to get Dr. Stone, Fire Force or Daima for May 10th and we have to wait to see if they ever continue Mashle, Blue Exorcist or Demon Slayer.

But if they have nothing they should just do this.

12:00 AM - Lazarus
12:30 AM - One Piece
01:00 AM - One Piece
01:30 AM - Lazarus Sub
02:00 AM - Naruto
02:30 AM - Sailor Moon

Just run Suicide Squad Isekai or Scavengers already WTF WB/D!

I’d rather get nothing over the block becoming a trash can for unwanted Max shows.

It does make you wonder why they have been so against moving One Piece forward. For a few weeks it’s just to keep the schedule stable. But for 5 months (or more) there’s no real reason it couldn’t have moved up in the night for awhile.

That said, they really need to get OP cut down an episode ASAP or they are gonna have a real mess at the end of the year. There is no way they can coast on that till July.
