i'm going to make bagels

i made bagels. 

first attempt not bad at all. the plain should have been baked seperately, however, they taste amazing. 

they'd be even better if i could find malt syrup. 

anyway, they may sell, they may not, but for a first attempt at something i thought was a secret of only the jewish deli down the road in douglaston...i'm pretty happy with the results.

just like a bagel. i know if i had the mead syrup, they would taste JUST like the one in douglaston NY. i mean, i really surprised myself. 

i used brown sugar, in the dough, and honey for the boil.

Those look delicious! I'll take two topped with cheddar cheese, please? I can put the cream cheese on myself. (I wish.)

very similar. just don't forget the baking soda in the boil. 

and you can see where i didn't pinch the dough quite enough, and the sizes are a bit off. but, not a bad first try. 

and i'm going to make pretzels next week.
