Now THIS pisses me off.

It's like they're guarateeing the only way to get a job in the arts--sorry... "content creation," is through nepotism. Hollywood dynasties/shogunates/whateverthefuck.

Hey if you wanna job in the industry you need to know someone, or ya gotta suck some D.

Or maybe you watch Harvey Weinstein jerk off into a potted plant.

That's just good old fashioned entertainment industry hiring practices right there.

More often than not yes, but having an avenue for us peasants to crawl in burnt down is always a bad thing.

I made it into the 2nd round of this year's Austin Film Festival screenwriting competition for example, and usually this would be cause to celebrate since a 2nd round badge gets you into professional roundtable workshops, networking opportunities & etc, but this shit's become so deliberately mismanaged that they've started releasing the results only 3 weeks before the actual conference, the prices for airfare and hotels are so jacked as to say "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA FUCK YOU THERE'S TOO MANY OF YOU BE RICH LIKE US"

TLDR; Placed in a prestigious festival off an admittedly mediocre script, not attending bc not enough time in advance to book anything.

CNS and WBA will combine while Hanna Barbera Europe will continue to exist as its own unit. Not the kind of synergy I’ve always wanted to see from WBA and The Cartoon Network.

They say CNS will continue to produce content for CN, AS and HBO Max but with HBO Max’s move away from animation (they specifically note adult animation) there will be more shows developed for other networks and platforms.

The internet is taking this as Cartoon Network as a channel being on borrowed time, if it plans to continue at all.

I COULD see CN's days being numbered to sometime in 2023, potentially merging with DFC. [as] and Toonami, meanwhile, would probably end up on TBS and/or TNT. Would be interesting to see some hours of TBS go to [as] while some hours of TNT go to Toonami, possibly following an AEW broadcast!

“We don’t need to market the channel if it no longer exists!”

Meanwhile the about face on the pipeline was apparently only done because the Director’s Guild threatened to sue under diversity and inclusion labor laws, specifically violating their current bargaining agreement.  (Expect Zaslav to push to remove that next negotiation).

Cartoon Brew really had to force CN to speak publicly about this

This is a good outcome. People may not like when a news source spreads a sensationalist headline, but getting everyone in a huge panic is often the only way to get some official communication.

Now we wait and see if they can actually deliver on “30 and thriving” because their slate of content right now is still pretty subpar. Their 30th anniversary schedule was the first time in a long time the network was actually watchable. It’s still doing OK for Halloween since Courage is still on, but I do fear they will slide back into their old ways soon.
