Bad Dreams

Last night I had a bad dream where two shadow people got me in the backseat of a car as if they were going to kidnap me, and one of them leaned in mumbling something.  I felt an intense sense of dread and told myself I had to wake up before it got any closer to my ear and woke up with momentary sleep paralysis.

When's the last time you've had a bad dream that got to you?  What was it about?

I have a lot of dreams about lions.

I don't think I can call them re-occurring dreams since they're all different.

But there I am in one situation or another and out of no where, god damn lions.

I always spend the rest of the dream scrambling for safety.

I don't know if this counts as a nightmare 'cause I don't wake up in a panic or anything.

Bathroom dreams are the ones that get me. You know, the ones where you've got to pee and, instead of waking up and going to the bathroom like a reasonable person, you start searching for a bathroom in the dream. The dreams themselves aren't the problem, although the bathrooms and the obstacles involved in finding them are usually bizarre. It's that sometimes, when I realize that I'm dreaming and wake myself up, I'll actually find myself in another dream, looking for a bathroom. I've had this happen where it takes up to five dream bathrooms before I actually wake up, and when I finally get to the real bathroom, I'm still not sure if I'm dreaming. It always makes me question my already feeble grip on reality.

Have you ever checked out Dream Moods?  I use the Dream Dictionary there whenever I have a really intense dream that sticks with me.  Here's what it says about lions.  Of course, it's all dreams and none of it may mean anything.

Lion

To see a lion in your dream symbolizes great strength, courage, aggression and power. You will overcome some of your emotional difficulties. As king of the jungle, the lion also represents dignity, royalty, leadership, pride and domination. You have much influence over others. You also need to exercise some restraint in your own personal and social life. Alternatively, a lion represents your need for control over others. You have to be in charge.

Dreaming of a dead lion refers to your fall from power or status.

To dream that you are attacked by a lion suggests that a force may be driving you to self-destruction. You need to overcome these challenges and obstacles.

To see a black lion in your dream represents a negative force. You or someone else is using their position of power to do harm. To see a white lion in your dream highlights your majestic power. A white lion may also indicate sudden awareness of the power you hold.

You've bathroom-incepted yourself.  BWONG

It reminds me of the time that my alarm started going off, so I got up to go across the room to turn off my alarm clock but it wouldn't shut off.  I hit the snooze button, I flipped the switch, but nothing would turn the thing off.  I turn around embarrassed and tell all the people sitting in the restaurant that I'm sorry it's disturbing their meal and I'll have it off in a moment, and as I'm reaching for the plug it dawns on me "you don't have a restaurant in your bedroom" and I finally wake up and go turn off my alarm.

I. Fucking. Hate. This. Dream. So. Fucking. Much. I have it way too often.

It sounds like though dream-you only reacts mildly embarrassed by the non-silencable alarm.... my-dream-self is always driven to the point of insanity trying to get that goddamn infernal beeping to stop. Like my-dream-self literally jumping up and down stomping on watches trying to smash them to bits, but the alarm still goes....

One time it took a full 6 minutes of it beeping (irl and in my dream) before I woke up. Thought I was gonna go literally insane.

I was pretty pissed off, for sure.  But I had to play it down for the patrons of the restaurant.  Didn't want a bunch of dream-people watching me lose my shit.

Oh shit, dream thread, sweet.

I had a crazy one the other night- i woke up and there was a tiny rattlesnake on my pillow right next to my head. So i try to wiggle my way out of bed to try to not disturb it. I manage to get out of bed but now its going after my cat.

So i try to grab it, and i do a shitty job at it. Motherfucker's biting all over my fingers, i can feel the fangs going in and im looking at them and they look like little needles, feel like it too.

Anyways i finally manage to grab the thing by the back of the head. I head out the door, only now im in my parent's front yard.

I yeet the snake about as far away as i can before realizing i have to find it again to make sure i get the right antivenom for the type of snake it is.

So me and my dad are looking around, trying to find this snake. He finds it, says "its a fucking pine snake!" While throwing his hands up in the air and walking away.

Boy howdy i wonder what that one represents. Sure seem to be a lit of Freudian undertines to it.

I definitely suggest reading up on Dream Moods about that.  It'll give you the pieces, but you have to put them together.  What I find neat about the whole dream interpretation thing is that even the little things can be symbolic of something much more important.  Like in your dream, the big thing is the snake itself, but also getting bitten, waking up with the thing on your pillow (and the pillow itself), the focus on the fangs, etc., each of these can add so much more meaning to the general idea of "snek bite no bueno."

You did mix's lion one, now you're on the hook for all the dream interpretations in this thread.

Thats how the game works.

You couldn't just let me be lazy, could you.

Snake

To see a snake or be bitten by one in your dream signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced.  Alternatively, the snake may be seen as phallic and thus symbolize temptation, dangerous and forbidden sexuality. More specifically, to see a snake on your bed suggests that you are feeling sexually overpowered or sexually threatened. You may be inexperienced, nervous or just unable to keep up. If you are afraid of the snake, then it signifies your fears of sex, intimacy or commitment. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent healing, transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive change.

To see a baby snake in your dream means that you are underestimating some threat in your waking life.

Pillow

To see a pillow in your dream represents comfort. relaxation, ease, and/or luxury. You need to take it easy on yourself. Alternatively, the dream indicates laziness. If the pillow is lumpy, then it indicates that there is something unsettling in your mind.

To dream that you are lying on a pillow suggests that you are in need of some mental support. Perhaps there is a situation or matter that you need to "cushion" and soften the blow.

Family

To see your own family in your dream represents security, warmth and love. It could also symbolize bitterness, jealousy, or rivalry, depending on your relationship with your family. Alternatively, it could mean that you are overly dependent on your family, especially if the family members are in your recurring dreams. Consider also the significance of a particular family member or the relationship you have with them. If you dream that your family does not act or appear as they normally are, then it means that you want to distance yourself from them. Or you simply don't understand where they are coming from.

Fangs

To see fangs in your dream indicate that you have said some words that have been hurtful to others.

Yard

In particular, to see your front yard represents what you choose to let other see. It is symbolic of your social personal. Consider the condition of the yard and any objects in the yard. For example, if there is a ball in the front yard, then it may mean that you want others to get to know your playful side.

I'm still leaving it to you to put the pieces together.

It's always the system...................................man, I hate that guy

I was first thinking about replying with "Threw It On the Ground" because of the line "I'm not a part of this system," but then the "Man, I hate that guy" made me think of the wedding scene from Robin Hood: Men In Tights, so now I'm not sure which reference to go with.

I've been defeated.

Slaying foes I didn't not challenge to fuel a legend I did not seek.

In the end, I would rise to be King only to see myself fall to another puppet of fate.
