The most ironic part of this argument is that anyone of passing intellect knows colleges just don't give a shit. All they care about is whether or not you'll flunk classes and ruin their accreditation or whatever. They just want your money. Don't have money? It only takes a couple of brain cells to apply for financial aid. They don't fucking care if it's your money or not, they're getting paid either way.

So, yeah. College recruitment letters amount to little more than "Hey, we want all of the cash you have or qualify for."

And anyone that's been to college can confirm that any idiot can qualify for enough to coast for a couple years.

Military recruitment gives off the same vibes, but since I didn't go that route, I couldn't say what they're getting out of the deal.

eh, i tried a number of times to get into the big expensive private college here for an MBA. they didn't want me. the state school did but it would have been worthless from them.

I would guess private schools are playing by different rules? Do they still get all the same government aid and bonuses and whatnot? Plus they've probably usually got their own internal criteria for who they want representing them (although "potentially successful white dudes" is probably on everybody's list).

Theyre the best jobs when it comes to benefits. Check out tmobile careers.  We even have tuition reimbursement and free IT courses (its really a computer science company that does a bunch of other stuff). And a company discount website. I got unlimited Microsoft office suite 2019 for $9.99

I have literally all that shit through my job and my job is nothing to brag about.

she was interested in college right after high school. but has decided to just take her pre~req. classes her senior year, and year after.

work and save some money. she's still undecided on what she wants to be when she grows up. so, she's going to take the this route.

I wish I had waited a bit before diving into college. I think taking a year or so off from school can be good for a teenager. I agree on the working in the mean time, too. Always helps for a dose of reality if nothing else.

My dad pressured me into college the month I graduated high school to pursue a degree in something he was interested in but I wasn't. He had me stack classes so I'd essentially be in my senior year two years after starting. Burnt me out hard. I was maintaining the grades but was unable to do literally anything else.

It all ended poorly when he pulled my funding for being a "fag" and I couldn't afford that school and had no real job experience. Wound up taking out student loans to fund myself through a terrible college for a degree I liked but had no job market where I was.

I really do wish he would have given me what you're talking about giving your kid. Just a little time to drink in the real world and watch my peers and learn from their experiences before diving in myself.

i think it's awful that parents hold their childs funding/tuition/assistance hostage over things like sexuality.

my oldest daughter has been taking her time with college. she's complete her b.s.

and she moved to new york, to attend cornell for a couple semesters. unfortunately, she had to move back

because her baby daddy wasn't going to comply with the aggreement they originally had when she went out there,

and let her daugher move out there with her.

so she's back in az, finishing up her classes

tl:dr~she took the slow pace, got a little more added (life/babies) but she's sticking to it, on her terms. i believe she

is now working on her masters(?)

Disco, what's wrong with the marines? What branch were you?

marines! xD

i have told all my kids 'i really don't want you to join the military, but IF you feel the need, try airforce first, because

it's super lax (inb4 clu) and better opportunities for women.

now, i also told them that if they wanted to join the marines, to get in the w.o program, not officer, but warrant officer.

more respect from enlisted, with the same props as officer. and that way get college paid for, AND don't have to commit to any length

of time in service.

i was pegged up by my gysgt to go the this route, but the sgtmaj of my unit hated women in service...and veto'd that quick.

What the hell does this prove, other than it's just another bill that your sorry ass didn't pay? You went shuffling your fat ass around for an hour to find a ten year old bill. Simply proving you didn't pay bills back then either. Congratulations, you piece of shit.

That's what I had under Covered California (California's version of Obama care).

When my younger daughter and the grandkids were on Medicaid, their plan was administered by the same company that my husband's private insurance was through.

Hey fuggs. Why are you trying to convince everyone that you have a retirement plan, awesome health insurance, tuition reimbursement, and all these other perks, when no one gives a shit about you to begin with? You bounce around from company to company. You are an unstable employee at best. You spend 90% of your day on these boards, trying to convince people that you aren't the ginormous piece of shit that you really are. You are an idiot.

i guess one could label it as pity, but not the pity one would feel toward an invalid or a homeless person. it's more a feeling of embarrassment, really. i'm embarrassed for her, when she attempts to justify her shitty opinions with even shittier arguments. it's almost hard to watch. then add on top, the constant projections of weakness or inadequacy she's always lumping onto everyone around her. i couldn't take it if i was such a miserable person all the time.

There is no AP in 3rd grade.

Does honor roll count when one's mom bullies one's teachers into raising one's grades?

There technically is but it isn't explicitly called AP. I was enrolled in it in the 3rd grade. It was mostly us reading books above our grade level and learning basic algebra. This was in the 90s, though.

Define AAP.

When kids tell me they're taking AP courses, they're talking about courses for college credit. Madison is bright, but she's not taking AP courses.

Not sure if this factors in at all but we didn't have college credit classes available until the 7th grade and it was very difficult to get in.

well...aap is advanced academic program. it's basically as gunstarhero described in the primary education system.

my daughter was allowed to get books above her grade because she scored high in testing.

and she excelled in math in science.

no, it does.

this fool thinks that this primary education 'ap' is the same as actual college prep/ap classes.

Where did i say that? I just said she smarter than normal kids and can pass advanced public school courses instead of being pulled out and taught at an even slower pace (southern school is already turtle slow)

To be perfectly honest, I always thought the "gifted" classes in elementary school were useless. I took them cause I got out of class and got less homework by proxy. More time to play soccer or Pokemon after school.

you're a fucking idiot. there are multiple reasons to homeschool a child.

and not that i need to justify anything, we pullled her because the school system was lax. it is a horrible system that teaches to test.

pipeline system.

now, i will kindly ask you to stop calling my kid retarded.

and yet none of that implies any significant level of above-average intelligence in you. which is the entire premise of your insertion of yourself into this thread.

lol, sit down.
