How about Charlie Chan?  The actor was Swedish-American (Warner Oland).  I think the other actor to portray him in old movies was also white, but his name escapes me.

that one time john wayne played ghengis khan. ~ pretty good movie.

and kate hepburn as 'jade' in dragon seed.

and i don't remember the actors, both white, but in a movie i really loved when i saw it 'the good earth'

the list goes on...and on.

also...i thought 'charlie chan' was played by a few actors?

**does anyone else just love tcm?**

"The Conqueror" is a "so bad, it's good" movie (your John Wayne reference).  Howard Hughes bought up all the films and would watch it, reportedly alone, for hours on end.  Pretty much everyone from the movie died of cancer, thanks to the shooting location being downwind of the Nuclear Testing sites in Nevada.

They filmed in or near St. George, UT.  They hauled dirt from the area back to the studio for other shots.  And there's this, that's a Gieger counter below Wayne's hand (seen with his 2 sons).

Nope, didn't watch that incarnation - no "Gene Gene the Dancin' Machine' or "Chuckie Baby", not worth it.

I tried 2 gifs from the original but they wouldn't embed, so I got lazy and just picked the first one that would.....I honestly didn't know they remade it recently until now.
