JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5 "Golden Wind" announced, plus "bizarre" subtitled speculation!

Yes, that's right, folks. After a 2.75-year hiatus, new JoJo anime is back on the horizon!

Not only that, but if you're fortunate enough to be able to attend Anime Expo, you can attend a sneak preview of the subtitled first episode!

Now, everyone knows that Toonami officially broke the ice in airing subtitled anime on April Fool's Day, so WHAT IF the plan was eventually to include a "subtitled hour" somewhere in the back half of the block? You couldn't pick better shows to do that with than SAO 3: Alicization and JoJo Part 5 (with their dubs eventually coming when available)? That way, we could potentially get both the dub of SAO Gun Gale Alternative and the sub of Alicization on the block, and then the same for JoJo parts 4 and 5?

That block, in October, would look something like this:

10 PM Dragon Ball Super
10:30 FLCL Alternative
11 PM Attack On Titan Season 3
11:30 My Hero Academia
12 AM Sword Art Online Gun Gale Alternative
12:30 JoJo Part 4: Diamond Is Unbreakable
1 AM Hunter x Hunter
1:30 Black Clover
2 AM Sword Art Online 3: Alicization (subtitled)
2:30 JoJo Part 5: Golden Wind (subtitled)
3 AM Shippuden
3:30 Lupin the 3rd Part 4

Because of ratings, I'm giving the SAOs the lead over the JoJos, but then again, the JoJos have traditionally had the earlier timeslots, so that could be flip-flopped.

Well, let's put it this way--they ARE actually airing Pop Team Epic next week! That would have been unthinkable a year ago! Subtitles are "the last frontier", one that they actually crossed on April Fool's Day. But it only makes sense for stuff that isn't dubbed yet if it's tried otherwise.

But does anyone actually want subtitled shows on Toonami? I don't know why in the fuck I should stay up until 2:00 a.m. to watch subtitled Sword Art Online, because I'm too tired to read all those lines of subtitles by then. Have the characters' lines be in English, please. Toonami has already done a lot for causing dubs of anime to come out faster in America, so I think they should use their powers to get as quick of a dub as they possibly can. Even if you try to attract the weeb audience, they would rather go the piracy route, or maybe watch on Crunchyroll if they can afford it.

On top of this, Toonami branching out into new genres has more to do with the changing times. They can't get as many action shows as they used to, so this is their way to combat it, and much of the audience is accepting. Of course, they can also make completely new action shows that are in English to begin with. I don't think airing subs is a valid replacement for this.

Basically, if you looked at the April Fools' gag and came to the conclusion that Toonami should air more subtitled shows, your brain is hopelessly broken in ways I can't even begin to describe. :P

I mean not really *that* unthinkable. If anything Pop Team Epic reminds me most of old school adult swim anime. I mean this is the network that introduced us all to Super Milk-Chan.
