that cruel mistress known as sleep

you ever get tired like 4 hours ago and go to the bed only to lay awake?

This happens way more often than I'd like to admit and I kind of wish they'd make a personal version of that book "Go the Fuck to Sleep" that I could read to my brain

I have places to be in a hour and a half and I'm pretty sure I'm burning a personal day and attempting sleep again at this point

I'm usually like that atleast 3 times a week. I'll usually get sleepy like an hour before I'm supposed to be awake and then when the alarm goes off I just lay there until I'm late.

.... you should probably start being a better slave to your mistress.

That's exactly how I am.  I set my alarm for noon today and after waking up just rolled over and slept another hour through it.  My bed just feels normal when I'm trying to get to sleep but when I'm trying to wake up it's the most comfortable thing ever.

I've tried that too. I stop drinking Caffeine and started working out more.... sleep is still mean.

My brain is irrationally defiant when I'm supposed to wake up for work. My logical brain is like ... we're gonna set the alarm for 3:45am so we can get to work early and be extra productive. Then when it goes off I literally think ... fuck that .... then 20 mins later ... well shit I guess I'll be late today then.

Yeah, I used to do a hard workout six days a week and it was still the beer that put me out. If I was hooked up to the matrix I'd be fed nothing but infants to keep my energy output from dipping.

I use to think that as long as I got out of bed I'd be fine so I'd kind of slowly crawl out of bed but I quickly discovered curling up in a ball on the floor and going back to sleep was a option

I found that drinking is the best way to get to sleep too but I'm trying not to do that everynight

Ugh, yeah, or I'm tired all day and I've reached that point of being overtired and cannot go to sleep.

I've been there!  I get tired around 8 like an old person and stay up and then a few hours later I get my 2nd wind and sleep is damn near impossible

I have friends that can pretty much sleep on command and it annoys the shit out of me

See, I'm like this too, mostly.  I don't miss early meetings or stuff, but when it comes to showing up in the office at open I totally sleep through the alarm.  It's hard to care when you know no one will say anything if you show up later.

I know, man. It's hard to break away from what works when you have insomnia. Drinking and sleeping have become paired to me. If I drink casually with people around beer six I'm just ready to sleep.

I'm usually dead tired after work so I end up passing out on the couch when I get home only to be staggered awake by the crippling realization that I've done nothing with else with my day about 3 hours later. It's hard to go back to sleep after that, but I need a full seven hours I'm sure..

That's why I try not to nap

I'm not one of those "15 min nap people" I'm more like the "3-4 hour nap" type and that just destroys any hopes of me having a decent bed time
