In response to a moron who quite falsely said I have "T Rex" arms.  He has nothing at all on which to base that statement.

I know this isn't the case, but this reads like you were thinking, "Hm, maybe he's right, maybe I DO have T-Rex arms! Better measure to make sure... Ah! I knew it! I don't have T-Rex arms! How foolish he will look now!"

No, if I had just said that stretching my arms straight out side to side, measuring tip to tip would equal my height, he's likely to misread it as one arm being more than five feet long.  He's just that stupid.

Maybe they want to read the time at a glance instead of digging through their pockets and activating a phone.  It's a convenience thing.

Personally I think it's more convenient for my time piece (AKA my phone) to be rechargeable instead of having to go buy a new battery and have it installed (or if I knew how, install it myself) when it dies.

I'm not habitual job hopper.

Expand

The only jobs I'd stay in for 28 years are ones that are genuinely engaging and remain enjoyable for a significant amount of time. That doesn't make me a job hopper. I've had several that have been ongoing for years.

I value being happy over money. If I could make millions but hated the job, I'd maybe stick to it for a while for the money and quit when I had enough to not need the job. Probably save up enough to do my own thing fot a while.

Unless you really, really like cleaning other people's messes, staying a janitor for 3 decades is pretty depressing.

Batteries are lasting five years or more these days.   Phones?  You'll discard yours in two years and spend $700 for a new one.

..........You'll be spending the same amount on phones in the same amount of time regardless if you have a watch or not... Watches are not a replacement for phones. Watches are a replacement for one function of a phone (or rather, one function of a phone is a replacement for a watch, as has generally been the rule).

I mean, I guess you could always get a smart watch... But even I see no reason for that, and I'm assuming you feel the same.

Not really.  I expect this phone to last ten more years, and it didn't cost close to $700.

Actually, it's three weeks vacation.  The insurance seems adequate, since they eliminated the deductible for mental health.

Damn, I already have more vacation than you and no union dues. I probably won't stay at my job, which does have decent benefits,  but I'm not settling for less. As of now it's an okay job, in the fall it might end up a good job. But life has a lot of prioritizing involved when you decide to live one. Your priority seemed to be to make enough to stay drunk, given your proud sobriety, but you don't seem to have another goal to be shooting for. Most people like getting fucked up, but it has its place. And you apparently reside there.

I'm one if those rare people who actually knew my great grandparents.  My goal is simple and straight forward.  Live the same way they did at that age.

It wasn't extravagant, but it was steady and without worry.
