I will say of all the popular mainstream nu-metal bands of yesteryear, System of a Down was definitely the most tolerable.

I think people call things mainstream sometimes just out of the fact something is massively popular. In absolutely no way are their lyrics, or videos in anyway mainstream. I think you're getting something confused.

I guess it depends on how you define "mainstream."

Yea man, they're far from mainstream.

noun
noun: mainstream

Bill Tsamis - Epic heavy metal

Yeah he's a musician not a band, but I need to use him to bridge Warlord and Lordian Guard together. And he wrote/writes all the music and lyrics in both bands anyway.

Have you ever seen 331erock on YT?

Prob.

Would it make you feel better if I said they had a mainstream audience? Because LISTENING TO System of a Down was definitely "regarded as normal or conventional" and one of "the dominant trend in opinion, fashion, or the arts."

Honestly, they avoided me for years. I didn't even hear of them till like 2010, my music taste was so much smaller not too long ago. But yea they have a huge fanbase now based on quality and now at this point, in that sense, they are indeed mainstream, but in the context of someone who's never listened to Soad, that's told to go and listen to them.

Manowar comes up on one of my spotify playlist.

I'mma give those other two a shot.

For the more epic side of Warlord, go with something from their 2013 album The Holy Empire. I specifically recommend the title track, 70,000 Sorrows, Night of the Fury, and Thy Kingdom Come.

For Lordian Guard, I recommend Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, War in Heaven, Revelation XIX, and Winds of Thor.

Breaking Benjamin didn't break through until I was in college and I had no friends (:D :(), the other three you mentioned were also very popular at my high school.

I started listening to BB from their first album thanks to a friend.

Tupac, Biggie, Eminem

Hip-hop

Tupac recycled his lyrics constantly....Biggie was never any good, the East coast just put him on a pedestal because at the time they were no where on the hip hop radar, Eminem fell off like a leper's dick......As it's been stated before in this thread...This is all mainstream garbage.

Agreed 100%. And Eminem has always sucked, and this is rap, not hip hop, which is soft, whereas rap is tough.

Shall we analyze some 2pac lyrics?

First let me make a roast beef sandwich.

That was more of a gif of him crying about it than of me crying through him. I don't dislike his music but I'm not a huge fan. Not my wheelhouse.
