nameraka Posted May 20, 2018 Share Posted May 20, 2018 i quit for about 8 months two years ago just to kind of get myself under control. feel it may be time to take another one. shorter, maybe a month or two. i just feel like i'm starting to use it as a crutch again. i've also noticed i have a hard time sleeping without alcohol in my system. any advice from those who've done it to help get through that first week? SlappyKincaid Posted May 21, 2018 Share Posted May 21, 2018 I quit for almost a year, I think it was like 9-10 months, I found that not quantifying it in "how long" helped in keeping me sober because quantifying sobriety made me care about drinking booze and then some things happened. A combination of things that require a lot of explaining. But I reached a place mentally. I've managed to quit strong booze like liquor and wine, but i keep caving to beer despite my want to quit completely again. Stress and things outside my control lead me back to the bottle, despite feeling awful after I overindulge.
