André Toulon Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 So I lost my night gig, right?.....I didn't think nothing of it.....So I'm not even sure which one of these employment networks I'm a part of but BestBuy.com calls me and says I can grab an IT position with them. Like I didn't lose my day job, but somehow I'm available? It's right here in town, so no more going to TX, and it pays better. I really wasn't even looking for a new day job but.....I'm confused. I don't like change, and they want me to start this week. I'm scared to leave my job, but nothing about this sounds bad.......Other than I won't have the liberties right off that I have now. Ya know, coming in when I want, leaving at a moments notice, weekends off....Thant kinda shit. What do.
nameraka Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 you should do what i do. take a nice long :poop: and think it through.
1pooh4u Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 If the job pays more and is more convenient, take it.
scoobdog Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Getting a job in town beats having to commute. The only thing I would be concerned about is that it's Best Buy. What kind of position is it (besides generically being IT)?

Networking and security....Computing security, not blue shirt security......My thing is if they are going to play the seasonal card, which will piss me off

What worries me about Best Buy is that their business is not nearly as robust as it was just a few years ago.

Yeah, I know what you mean, it's peak season so I could get fucked at the end of the year......Still, due to my current situation, this sounds good because I won't be on call constantly. I haven't made a decision.

I'd stick with the one that offers better health benefits for you and your kids. That's my 2 cents. Then again, doesn't matter what I say, because you're going to do what you're going to do. A good job is not going to have the same liberties that you have now, because they don't put up with shit for what they are going to pay you.

Guest The Hound Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Shut the fuck up packard. I was playing Overwatch earlier and someone on the other team's name was "Stilgar", so i all chatted "Stilgar?" and they just gave me a "?"
1938 Packard Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Shut the fuck up packard. I've done the commuting thing. Not at all worth the aggravation.
Rogue_Alphonse Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I've done the commuting thing. Not at all worth the aggravation. I used to drive 300+ miles a week without issue. I loved that 40 minutes of "me-time".
fuggnificent Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I used to drive 300+ miles a week without issue. I loved that 40 minutes of "me-time". hells yeah... i drive 20 minutes to work now... thats sexy book cd listening time for me
1938 Packard Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 hells yeah... i drive 20 minutes to work now... thats sexy book cd listening time for me For me, it was a whole paycheck out of every month spent for nothing but getting there. It was like i spent a week working for free.
Rogue_Alphonse Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 hells yeah... i drive 20 minutes to work now... thats sexy book cd listening time for me I actually hated the going home commute more (if it was 5pm or 9pm), because it was a mix of "blah blah daily drive home" people and "I had to stay fucking late I wanna road rage as hard as I can". Or in my case, FUCKING BATTLEGROUNDS... and NOBODY, not even assholes in BMW's could take on the mighty 1998 Grand Cherokee with my secret weapon: "Overdrive OFF". On the way there I just drank coffee and caught the Preston & Steve show... absorbed the heat from the heated leather seats and if I could, let cruise control do the work.
lupin_bebop Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I’ve done the commuting thing for years. My commutes have ranged from 20 minutes all the way to 90 minutes. You just kinda have to do it. For a good job, you’re going to have to, man. Unfortunately, they simply aren’t going to put up with some of your shit, so you have to put up with theirs. Having said that: You don’t completely have to put up with their shit, because they needed/wanted you.
André Toulon Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 Nah, fuck that shit.....Too many indefinites. And fuck starting over.
