I just finished s2 of each. I had largely forgotten a lot of what went on in the French one, I really don't like that show. Weird religious drama, mad scientist, class war, European history repeating itself kinda theme. The whole "Messiah" child just annoys me, but Spoiler My hope is the payoff will be one day he eventually gets bitten and it turns out he actually IS immune like the religious freaks think. They go to London for s3 which I'm not looking forward to, those new eps are still premiering. Might watch in a year or something The NYC one is better but it also centers around kid characters who I don't like and most of the people in the various factions are NPCs. I also found it much more predictable than the French one. The Croat becomes a pretty adorable character though, rooting for him. Feels like they're trying to build up these kids to maybe make careers for themselves out of being in spinoffs for the next however many decades. AMC+ does free trials thru YouTube, prime, etc and they stack so you can get multiple free trials thru multiple avenues if you ever feel like marathoning these. Spoiler But ultimately nothing really happens of consequence in either show, none of TWD characters die. In the French one the villain lady is killed, so her Nazi coded second in command replaces her & is set on being more evil than her predecessor. In NYC they're doing a "colonizing" theme with whatever the "normal govt" society is absorbing other groups & making them conform. The only character I like is the young historian scribe guy who you can just tell is going to become a horrible villain someday. I give both a 5/10, watchable but embarrassing to talk about. 1 Quote

I will probably give them another chance. Didn’t the Darryl one do a season called “the book of Carol”? She was one of my favorite characters in TWD I think I got burnt out on TWD and TWDU between FTWD(which ended), Rick and Michonne, NYC and DD I just couldn’t anymore it was starting to break my brain 😆 Quote

She was one of my favorite characters in TWD Yep! That's the s2 I just watched. She's tracking down Daryl trying to link up with him. She was always my favorite too, she's such a nut but it's great. They definitely needed her to get me interested in even watching anymore of that French nunnery drama. I didn't see much of FTWD & probably missed some other stuff cause I saw a variety of spinoff-y looking things on AMC+ that I'll probably never watch. I'm shocked any of this still ongoing tbh even tho they've always tried to set it up as a forever show. Can't believe it's been 15 yrs since TWD first started Quote
[classic swim] Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Dusk Till Dawn Not much has changed since I first saw it. The heist plot was infinitely more interesting, and would’ve been at least a Top 20 film if it stuck to just that. It settles for being a vaguely memorable thing with vampires that’s more campy than scary. And Salma Hayek. Quote
The_annoying_one Posted October 11 Posted October 11 V/H/S Halloween via a Shudder free trial. I’m barely five minutes in and the cheese level is off the charts. I absolutely love this garbage. Quote
Ric Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Don't watch this if you can't handle spiders Also watched Tenebrae and Ginger Snaps recently. 1 Quote
SwimOdin Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I want to watch Weapons again, and probably The Substance again too. The latter might be a harder sell, that movie was fucking gross and I hate body horror, but it was well made. Quote
1pooh4u Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Watching Them I saw @discolé monade recommend it. It’s very fucked up and unsettling. Reminds me of a Jordan Peele joint but it’s not. It’s unsettling because the horror is real. The trauma inflicted on each character is real. I think I am up to day 4. It’s on Amazon prime if anyone wants to check it out. Quote
-Kudasai- Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I'm watching the only Halloween special I care about on METV Toons three hours of Halloween themed theatrical short cartoons featuring Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Mr. Magoo Woody Woodpecker Casper and Tom and Jerry. Quote
Noob Posted October 27 Posted October 27 The Welcome to Derry premiere was good! The opening scene was scary and it ended great. Spoiler I'm glad they killed all those boys because I found them annoying & didn't want to try getting invested in them as the core crew. I also watched Weapons yesterday and while it kept me engaged for the full 2+ hours I thought it kinda sucked by the end. I mean it was funny in parts like with the dumb cop getting stuck and everything but not really much of a horror movie. Also extremely predictable Spoiler I mean from the moment the villain snips a piece of the blonde teacher's hair when she's asleep in her car you basically know it's some voodoo witch shit, so a lot of the mystery immediately dissipates. Excited for more of the Derry show, but idk what else I'm gonna watch this week. Quote
The_annoying_one Posted Thursday at 12:19 AM Posted Thursday at 12:19 AM I’m going through the Terrifier movies again over the next few days. Watching the first one now and it’s significantly worse than I remember. 1 Quote
1pooh4u Posted yesterday at 02:07 AM Posted yesterday at 02:07 AM Last night I watched all 3 28 Days Later flicks the first is still my favorite and I didn’t think 28 years later was that bad. I didn’t have a problem with the infected evolution I just wished they hadn’t abandoned the idea of infected humans that didn’t develop symptoms but are still highly infectious. I will definitely watch the third installment because judging the end of 28YL it seems like it will be fun. 1 Quote

Noob Posted yesterday at 04:05 AM Posted yesterday at 04:05 AM I just finished season 1 of From. Got 6 days left on this MGM+ free trial to plow through the next 2 seasons. I really like it, nice mix of horror and sci fi. Feels Stephen King-ish. 1 Quote
1pooh4u Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I was watching From I was able to watch 3 episodes and then they cut me off. I didn’t have or take the free trial although I’m considering it now cuz I’m hooked. Pretty much was intrigued from the beginning cuz of the Salem lot vibes. Quote

Chappi Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Got to see The Substance and rewatch Scream on Halloween. I was a little bummed out by The Substance cause it seems like they really wanted to dunk on Demi for having to live vicariously through her younger self to win back any respect from the crappy men in charge of the aerobics morning show. Honestly I was stun-locked by why a morning aerobics show needs a younger actress at the helm. Saying Demi is too old for a televised aerobics show is outrageous when those kinds of shows exclusively cater towards elderly people who like to stay active after the morning news. I can suspend my disbelief on a body horror de-aging serum, but a TV aerobics show recasting its aging star to be relevant with the gooner crowd felt like the movie was honking its clown nose at me. The Scream rewatch went pretty well. I was watching it with someone who never saw it so seeing their reaction to all the big moments even after knowing the twist was very special. Quote

I have an Amazon free trial and thru that got an MGM 7 day trial. I watched all of S1 on Prime but after Halloween they took it off, forcing me to get this dumb MGM thing. S2 is really good so far, things happening at a faster pace. A lady at work said S4 is coming out next year so I might just wait to watch S3 then bc I probably can't finish all this in 5 days. I love Salem's Lot & speaking of, there's a Salem's Lot prequel show also on MGM that I probably won't get to this week but want to watch. Set in the 1800s, vampires in olden days is just a fun genre. 1 Quote

There’s absolutely no way I can watch all 3 seasons in 6 days 😬 but now that you say they got a Salem’s Lot prequel on the same network i could try Quote

So I basically never pay for Prime, I just get a free trial whenever I want to watch or order something. So we might be able to get a free MGM trial on one account and then again on a different one to give us a couple weeks to try to cram it all in. But yeah I just don't watch that much TV tbh. Usually only right before bed, so even 2 weeks to finish 2 seasons of From would be pretty hard. Let alone the Salem's Lot show. It's been too nice outside to stay in watching TV. It's also rare that I get sucked into a show the way I have with From tho, so maybe I'll try marathoning. S2 so far is much scarier than S1 and I like that. It reminds me of Lost... Except good.
