A thought: I didn't like how floppy the blade was in the video. To make it more stable I would make the saw blade longer and fit a descent length of it into the base where your hand will be. Then cut a space big enough for your hand to grip the end that's inside. That way all the support is on the blade and the "machine" part is mostly casing. Like this... I'm not great with words. Hope that makes sense.

He supports it with wood but you could easily build it up with corrugated card-board and then cut styrene plastic to shape for the sides as a guide for the foam on top. I mostly posted the link because I thought he had some good ideas for the detailing and small parts that are attached. The base could be anything though...like this Or this Into this Depending on how accurate you want to be. All of those images are arizona ice tea bottles. The top one is flipped and has the handle taped to shape the base because they probably screwed in a more accurate handle to the top.
