  1. Did you miss the "greater hindrances" part - that includes those with actual PTSD, maybe missing a limb, maybe crushed by heavy introversion, maybe deaf or blind or whatever...
  2. I remind myself that thousands of people who came before me have succeeded on whatever it is I'm about to attempt with less support and greater hindrances than I have.
  3. Are you saying you've never seen "Fawlty Towers"? Here's the episode in question...
  4. ...or maybe an "Apocalypse"?
  5. https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-53020335 This leads to so many questions. Monty Python has at least 2 episodes where either Idle or Palin appear in blackface. One is the "Attila the Hun" episode, where Idle is seen as an over-the-top stereotypical old Hollywood portrayal (ala "Charlie Chan" movies) for Black men ("Uncle Tom"). The other has Palin as a maitre 'd character ("Mr. Akwekwe") for a high-class outdoor restaurant in the middle of the African jungle. Would these need to be pulled, even if they're meant to mock the mentality that led to the stereotypes? How can one portray and mock the stereotypes & blackface of the era. Would a Black person have to take the role? Would they want to? And what about books and scripts? Is it ok for a White writer to write roles for people of Color? I can see where the argument could be made that a White could never understand the Black experience, so they shouldn't attempt to write for a Black character. Or would the situation call for something like what happened with "Blazing Saddles" where Mel Brooks passed everything by Richard Pryor to see if it was ok, and Pryor essentially said Brooks was being too careful in the script, and rewrote many of the scenes? Just wondering how we move forward?
  6. And the other situations that have occurred before and since? This isn't a "one off" situation. You've got a former cop that pretty much hunted Ahmaud Arbrey. You've got Chicago Cops - https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2020/06/09/two-witnesses-to-brickyard-mall-incident-say-police-attacked-them-for-filming-officers-who-dragged-two-women-from-car/ Tulsa cops - https://abcnews.go.com/US/video/tulsa-police-release-video-violent-jaywalking-arrest-71201277 To be sure, there are good cops and I've worked with quite a few. Jon Burge wasn't one of them - he had a lot of cases with confessions...only to find out that he'd been torturing the confessions out of the suspects (ever see the movie "Brubaker"?).
  7. SERVE and PROTECT. (not assault and murder)

  10. This! If they didn't tell you, ask what you could have done differently to be a better candidate. That sort of thing shows that you are concerned with improving and not just going to accept the status quo.
  11. All the good names were already taken.
  12. What they played when they appeared on SNL (had a friend who was a fan back then)...
  13. I step off cliff and make him go get me another sandwich. Then I tell Woody to put the football away.
