It's a feature, not a bug. The lawsuit was asking for courts to pre-approve the abortion, because the statute is intentionally vague on what meets the threshold and no doctor/hospital wants to put their life on the line without a green light. Their supreme court is basically saying courts can't preclear because it is the doctor's job to decide, but a court can still decide afterwards whether the doctor met the threshold. It's intended to create the "climate of fear" where no one wants to be the test case.

McCarthy Speaker & GOP House Majority Drama
Raptorpat replied to Master-Debater131's topic in Current Events
Kevin McCarthy is leaving congress by the end of the year. https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2023-12-06/kevin-mccarthy-congress-retirement-not-seek-reelection-california For those keeping track, the GOP had a four seats more than a bare majority. Knocked down to three because Santos was kicked (in a seat that has better odds than not of flipping in February). This would knock them down to two seats to spare while the seat is vacant. -
I finally did my first route yesterday. When they came out, my game would crash any time I tried to start a route so I just ignored the feature entirely.

That's down to a realistic number where they could conceivably burn a week of floor time and manually pass them one by one. But even that is a massive time sink. -
This guy had an outstanding resume and I am shocked that he was available for the role.

I didn't know the dates, had to look it up. Two guys in 1980 and 2002 who were convicted of crimes, and three guys in 1862 who were literal confederates. -

Suozzi should be the favorite - he was the incumbent a year ago, it's theoretically a blue-leaning swing district (Biden won it by like 8 points in 2020), and he's very conservative for a Dem. If he can't win, then that probably means Long Island is mostly off the table for now.
