I found out first thing this morning. Though when I pulled up the obituary for everyone, it was dated June 1 so we all found out late. I was never super close to him on a 1:1 level, but we were in the same circle of ASMB jerks on fb forever to the point where I couldn't tell you what his handle was anymore because I only knew him as a real person. It sucks.

I'm going to make a couple points before I go to bed: the first point is that certain standards shift over time in practice even if they're not changed in writing on the rules page. for example, spoiler tagging certain imagery that is only allowed in DF. as we get reports for that kind of thing, we've been spoiler tagging them. and someone mentioned, KN gave a warning in a previous thread that the next time it would be a ban (though it wasn't posted as a board-wide announcement). I will openly admit that we are not the best at announcing these types of things, because it's a gradual shift based on how what's actually happening (compared with a rule set that predated any real posting activity and didn't contemplate the inevitable results) and by the time it's necessary to articulate we're already being yelled at. second, the porn thing is a liability issue, which I think has been established at this point. KN decided to take a broad approach to this, because as the one running the server, it's just not worth the hassle of nitpicking what is ok to post and when. because it's porn, seriously. if your interest in posting on UEMB hinges on sharing porn and other images, then I'm sorry. third, if you are reporting abuse or think mod action is warranted, use the "report abuse" function rather than individually tagging mods and admin. for one, it's really annoying. and for two, it is no secret that KN is the host/back end/site support admin and has zero patience for moderation drama on either side so tagging him was annoying AND stupid to boot. if there is a problem, use the "report abuse" button. if you don't think myself and the current moderation team are sufficient, maybe it's time to look into adding another mod or two, or maybe even another admin. I don't know what else I have or haven't addressed, so if someone's got a burning question just ask. additionally, I'm willing to just delete the bans from your two accounts (even though as far as I can tell sponges most likely earned it) if y'all just fine with this being done. ok, I am exhausted and going to bed.
