  1. Crafting was in most of the games in some capacity - combining herbs and other items, etc. RE3 was the first game to have crafting ammo, and they brought that back in 7, the 2/3 remakes, and then 8. I vaguely recall talking to you over a year ago about wanting to play through all the RE games sequentially because it had been a while since I played all the ones available on gamecube and there were several more recent ones I hadn't played yet, and it took about a year to do it because of adulthood etc. I subbed in the RE2 and RE3 remakes for the originals, and I missed Code Veronica X because I played through everything on steam and for some reason that's the only main game not available there. The remake of RE1 is still my favorite. RE4 was a landmark game for a number of reasons, but I think it departed too much from the feeling of RE such that it may be a perfect game, but it isn't a perfect RE game if that makes any sense. Then 5 and 6 learned the wrong lessons from 4 and departed even further into pure action and the plot/characters shifted further into like superhero anime, hence the need for a reset (the two Revelations games I think tried to find balance, but they were also comparatively forgettable and the characters were very anime). But those earlier hours of 7 successfully triggered all the long-dormant horror anxieties that I hadn't experienced since I played 1 as a teen so it definitely gets accolades for nailing the authentic feeling of what RE is supposed to be (also the FPS perspective and playing with a headset both totally amplified that by factors). And then RE8 felt like an attempt to marry the spirit of 1/7 with the spirit of 4. It doesn't rise to the top in either one of those categories, but it felt like a near-perfect cocktail of both sides. A 2/3-style remake is in development for 4, so we'll see how that shakes out. I recall Capcom reset development because the team was adhering too close to a literal remake instead of a more spiritual remake like its two predecessors, so we'll see. I also didn't think there was a need at first, but playing the 2/3 remakes really made me realize that the "modern" remake of 1 is nearly 20 year old and it might by time for a re-remake.
  2. i played RE7 and RE8 back-to-back and 7 excelled at the pants-shitting, aesthetic/ambient psychological horror but 8 excelled at assertive adventuring. people say it's like a spiritual successor to re4 in that way and they're not necessarily wrong.
  3. rough adolescence?
  4. i cleaned and reorganized half of the living room (mini ups)
  5. I kind of wing it, but generally start with the perimeter with an inconsistent use of straight lines and breaking off quadrants due to trees/bushes etc.
  6. Ultimately all the one off (the "we made it up as we went") rules that addressed specific scenarios got rolled into these more basic, general rules. Because for me, the bottom line is that it was the intent that mattered and trying to one-off address specific scenarios was an endless cycle. If the rules just list antagonistic scenarios you can't do, trolls will just find other antagonistic scenarios that aren't written down to continue antagonizing. Because the game of trolls is to find ways to antagonize without breaking the rules. So just moderate "antagonism". So in that specific case, it's rolled into the first bullet under Civility (the "don't be toxic" rule) - which does not currently carry over to DF. I hope that's a thing that doesn't need to be changed, but under these rules we can still moderate particularly egregious things there if they cross enough boundaries.
  7. Anyways, here is the near-final draft for everyone's look-see. Constructive criticism or questions are still welcome and may influence the final cut, but the final rules will be posted in one week. 8. tell me where it says what you think it says misaka
  9. No, that is not what that means at all.
  10. I don't foresee that, but if that's where it organically grows then I wouldn't stop it either. Here is what I've put down for clubs since I shared the last draft (as a practical matter, mods/admins can access even private/closed clubs regardless of whether they're a member but haven't tested how abuse reports work there though): - In member-created Clubs, members can customize their own rulesets. However, custom club rules cannot be more lax than the Dumpster Fires ruleset. In order for a club to have custom rules, those rules must be posted in the club. If no rules are posted or if the custom rules are unclear, the default UEMB rules apply.
  11. Lawyers don't have a First Amendment right to lie within the context of their professional practice. Obviously Rudy was his "lawyer" in name only and really engaging in the PR effort, but all the lying and fabrications (for said PR effort) were under the auspices of his law practice.
  12. not all gameplay hours are equal the weekend The Wind Waker came out on gamecube, I spent the entire first day stuck in the market at the very beginning where you need to find a sail for your boat. this was 2002, pre-any sort of real-time internet help type stuff. the website was just an advertisement for the game and forum type stuff wasn't big yet. there was one eskimo dude standing between two wood structures under a staircase, and when I'd walk up to him he would say something like 'talk to me over there' which didn't make any sense. it took me the entire day to figure out (by accident, probably because I noticed the tooltip pop up when i walked close enough) that he wanted me to talk to him across the wood thing instead of face to face, because it was actually a shop counter. then he sells you his sail for a pittance and the main adventure begins.

  22. No, panic and I had a discussion about the nuances of nudity last weekend or last week and it became obvious it wasn't really worth it to draw lines on that. Just don't totally overdo it.
