In non Silver Age silliness thoughts, I’m wondering if Toonami airing this means they have a shot at airing Creature Commandos next year. Commandos is a James Gunn pet project that’s fully canon with his reboot so it would definitely get eyeballs.

This right here is why I heavily dislike parodies of parodies. The jokes have to go on another layer because we’ve seen the initial joke, and they rarely make anyone laugh. Succession’s humor is black as midnight, but it works. Royal Crackers’ attempt to be a Succession shitpost doesn’t.

The book? No, but the play has been quite popular for several years, having extended its Broadway residency several times. Radcliffe has been very public in his condemnation of Rowling’s stances on the transgender community, so this is just throwing them all to the curb there as well.

Creature Commandos was just cast. Is this worth asking for on Toonami given that it’s part of the new James Gunn DC Universe? I think it would fit better than My Adventures with Superman.

Of course, no idea who’s getting cast for this because they plan to make 7 seasons over 10 years, one season per book. One suggestion I’ve seen -

Anyone who says the Mario 93 movie is better than the new one is a contrarian troll. That film killed Bob Hoskins’ career and would have killed Dennis Hopper’s had Speed not been around the next year. It’s a terrible film from every perspective, tone, performance, script, etc. Yes, Hopper says “MONKEY!” funny but that can’t save a film that looks like it’s going through a real time identity crisis. There. The one funny scene in the movie and it’s not even funny on purpose.

Radcliffe famously has refused to return for Cursed Child, so fuck him and all his friends I guess. Reboot time.

Dethklok and Babymetal? That’s a show I might go to. The Doomstar Requiem was the intended finale of Metalocalypse before Lazzo pulled the plug. I imagine this is like the Venture Brothers movie, wrapping up the plot lines a season would have had they not been cancelled.

Just…Max. I think the fear was that the HBO name made people think of adult programming, but…Max?

I know the “Zaslav write off” is a tired joke, but if there was ever a time I wished that happened…

See, if that was the Silver Age you could have a bonkers comedy. Instead we’re getting slice of life stuff.

You know how I will sometimes complain that it doesn’t feel like shows that are made for kids these days don’t seem to target kids?! Now I have demographic data backing that up.

It’s enough to make people wish Toonami got something less radioactive, like friggin Shield Hero or Goblin Slayer.

I’m getting the vibes the ratings will be dogshit and discussion online will descend into arguments between terminally online weirdos on both sides, ones that love the show and want Lois to be a lesbian because they’re still ass-mad The Owl House flopped, the other hardcore Restore the SnyderVerse weirdos who consider this an affront to Henry Cavill. And anime fans…will not watch. It doesn’t fit the Toonami branding the way it is now. And it honestly just makes me want to watch Superman TAS or Brave and the Bold. I imagine that the action will be severely downplayed for slice of life stuff and other shenanigans, which might explain Zaslav dumping it to be done with it.
