Or at the very least, generate rage over things that matter. ”While Republicans got you mad about gays in Star Wars, they reduced your access to healthcare. While Republicans made you worry about content in video games, they caused prices of appliances to quadruple. And while Republicans made you upset about comic book characters being replaced, grocery prices tripled with far less oversight, making you sicker. So what are you going to do about it?” At the same time, it might be advantageous to allow more boobs in games, more positive male action heroes, etc. Worked for Bill. -

So does my entire family, myself included. My Puerto Rican mother, Ecuadorian father, and my brother all think it’s dumb. Focusing on shit like that instead of standard of living, getting people into homes, being pricks about blaming the GOP for not letting them get into homes is what screwed them. And when egg prices double with increased chances of bird flu, they’ll have the opportunity again, but only if they learn and aren’t dumbfucks playing the everyone is racist card. -

Well, they got two years to get on it. Influencers, state and local regulations on misinformation (you wanna get Trump supports on board? Call it a war on Fake News, and push equal time and fact checking hard. They’ll eat it up at first). Restore trust. -

It’s telling our best hope to survive the next four years is to hope that a politician is lying.

If humanity survives all this, big fucking question mark, there's going to be a chapter on how not regulating internet misinformation from the start and re-establishing the Fairness Doctrine during the Clinton administration led to the bullshit we're dealing with now. Vaccine denial, climate denial, assuming Trump gives a single rat fuck about an Arkansas dirt farmer's grocery bill... You know why the New Deal worked before anything that didn’t help a billionaire buy a new mansion or a yacht was seen as communism? Because it was building actual infrastructure. Roads, bridges, plumbing, etc. We could have had that with an infrastructure bill for a green future, but no. The MTG’s hiss at anything that has the word Green in it, so we’re fucked.

Not sure what's going to be worse, Putin trying to butter up Trump to abandon our allies in Ukraine, or RFK Jr. having any say on health. I imagine liberal states need to do something to insulate themselves from his horseshit if Trump doesn't throw him out on his ass, and then let Trump's constituents die in the ensuing flood of health misinformation.

No, the media is going to double and triple down on progressive stories. Because that is how they normalize people. By making them a normal part of stories. -

The few Trump fans I know have me thinking the opposite. Ignorant, easily manipulated, etc. Rubes. -

Legal accountability dismantling it would be a start. Make it hurt to not tell an objective truth. Then they need their own to counter it. Something that speaks to the working class man or woman. -

There’s going to be a lot of people missing faces thanks to leopards.

Part of me thinks this is a way to try and assuage some of the clear gender issues. ”No, no, he ain’t sexist! See? A woman is running a lot of the day to day activities!”

He can’t look like he was forced out. He has to be allowed to ride off into the sunset with his W. Do the whole Don’t Cry for me Argentina bit. Because he won’t be around to be kingmaker, since he’s thoroughly disinterested in letting anyone else have the crown. -

He will. And people will celebrate when he does. But I imagine he’ll be forced out of the White House before death takes him. -

Democrat Andy Kim discusses his constituents in a Trump friendly district he nevertheless won. He points out something else that will fuck over Vance, that Trump is still seen as an outsider while Vance is a career politician. -

Why do you think he was attached to Trump? They know they needed his cult of personality to win. They also know he will die or become completely invalid soon. Milk the cow one last time. -

No, because Pence was an establishment Republican, Trump wasn't facing potential jailtime as well as growing signs of dementia, and he still had a relatively serious staff alongside him. Here the situation feels more...transactional. Use your populist cult to get us in, and we'll let you off the hook so you can retire peacefully and say you got one over on the libs. -

That's of course if Vance isn't playing him like a damn fiddle. "Oh no, oh no, the stress of the campaign has exacerbated a henceforth unknown condition! Trump is pardoned but as per the 25th amendment is gone, and here's President Vance!" It feels like that's their end goal, get Trump the freedom he wanted and use his cult to propel his side to victory, then let him leave gracefully and let the adults take over. -

https://www.marijuanamoment.net/medical-marijuana-was-on-the-ballot-in-over-100-kentucky-cities-and-counties-it-passed-in-every-single-place/ Legal weed was on the ballot in over 100 Kentucky cities and counties and passed every single one. I don't even smoke weed (or do any drugs really), but it's notable since legalized weed is often associated with progressive policies. -
https://www.nbcnews.com/business/economy/economy-if-trump-wins-second-term-could-mean-hardship-for-americans-rcna177807?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Musk has outright said to brace for pain these next few years. That was their pitch. It's why I'm calling it. When the Trump effect is gone (because he'll hopefully be gone sooner rather than later) and President Vance is seeing people pissed they had their heads put on the burning stove to teach them the folly of the GOP's policies, we will see a lot of buyer's remorse.

Well he's a raging narcissist who demands being popular, and more importantly, big businesses that supported him will be screwed over by these tariffs, including car manufacturers, like Tesla. Elon may talk a big game about suffering short term so we can build domestic infrastructure, but when push comes to shove, is he going to want to eat those massive import tariffs and see his profits shrink?
