  2. 1. They got Colbert back? Damn! 2. Wait...didn’t Birdman die in the last episode?
  3. I’d say this is where Futoshi binge eats to deal with his problems...but that train left the station
  4. Oh God I knew you were going to say something about this. The message appears to be about choice, hence the rather heavy hints of one of the heroines being a lesbian and being in favor of a society for individuality, rather than one of emotionless blob people.
  5. God I miss FIOS. It's nice to not have to use all these supplements or pay out the ass, or borrow friends cable passwords for the apps.
  6. OK, so without spoiling anything plot related, the minigames in Yakuza 6 include: Virtua Fighter 5 (yeah, the actual Virtua Fighter 5) Puyo Puyo Classic Sega arcade games like Space Harrier and OutRun Karaoke Mini-gang warfare battles An entire subplot and conversation simulator that's more or less a season of Cheers. Baseball team management and batting And the actual story. God I love these games.
  7. And this is why folks stream.
  8. Space Battleship Yamato 2202 #1.
  9. That’s a triumph of human ingenuity over genetic disposition. The power isn’t gifted, it’s earned.
  10. My problem with the show has always been the setup doesn’t work. Not that I want it to be like The Boys (which when you get down to it is more interested in being offensive than making any sort of nuanced point). When the narrative goes one way and then makes a hard U-Turn to go in the exact opposite direction of its moral, you cannot help but shake your head. And I was mostly laughing at the joke Daos made, which came off like a variation on the “Rick and Morty is for smart people only!” meme.
  11. Asking the women in the audience since as a dude I feel unqualified to answer. Although last week’s...yeesh.
  12. Rick and Morty is the new network favorite, meaning it’s open season to shit it on it and anyone who ever admitted to unironically liking it.
  13. Yeah, and MHA is a spiritual counterpoint to The Boys, as opposed to crap on toast.
  14. Trying to hype up the sequels while not burning any of the precious episodes. Good for hype, awful for ratings.

  17. Like I said, something about this show just irks me, and the idea that it’s better than One Punch Man?
  18. It’s weird because I friggin love superhero stories in a lot of contexts. Justice League and JLU are iconic Toonami shows and I adore pretty much all the DCAU stuff, I love OPM, and I’ve mentioned my fondness for the MCU. I mean I bought the Gatchaman boxset just for that amazing Alex Ross artwork. But something about this setup just grinds my gears, lending itself more to that anti hero opposite corrupt douchebag “heroes”.
  19. Well actually, because this is literally the plot of Garth Ennis’ The Boys, one of the biggest anti superhero screeds of all time. This is the origin of Billy Butcher, and he would kill all the superheroes. That’s the point.
  20. Yeah, this comic exists already in several forms. Marshal Law, The Boys, hell, Tiger and Bunny’s big theme is how corporate interests clash with altruism and the ensuing result. Except all those make more sense. I mean, even at its core, OPM is a satire of bureaucracy, how the most qualified person doesn’t get to do the job or get credit for it because of administrative red tape. All those stories stick the landing.
  21. Yeah, sure. Tiger and Bunny. One Punch Man. Sunred. Gatchaman, etc. But this setup is all wrong. This is a setup that produces a villain or an anti-hero, not a hero. Deku lives in a world of mutants and gets bullied by them. He’s the kid that grows up to develop Sentinels! He joins a team of CIA backed normal people to keep the superheroes in check until they’re all blown away by the military with depleted uranium ammo. He’s the trained law enforcement super cop that finds vigilantes silly at best, disgusting perverts at worst. This setup is wrong.
  22. It’s one thing to talk about the show on its own. But comparing it to One Punch Man creates the OTHER well know comic book cliche, people fighting over Marvel and DC. I’ll admit, that’s what set me off. OPM is clearly Marvel in this case.
