  1. Dragons? This looks like a dumpster fire even more so.
  2. They copy everything the hell else.
  3. Imma keep it real with you chief. No one’s making a Cannon God Exaxxion anime.
  4. Gunsmith Cats was a lot of fun. 3 Episode OVA, adaptation of a much longer manga. Give it a watch when you have some time.
  5. That panel looked like another shitshow. “Look how diverse we are!” Motherfucker bragging about that instead of showing content is why everyone is pissed off in the first place. Not to mention we got zero named for original productions besides Not Little Witch Academia here. Stop giving the “Get woke, go broke” people more ammo.
  6. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2018-08-31/kenichi-sonoda-to-attend-anime-central-for-bean-bandit-episode-0-premiere/.136194 Essentially, the whole thing is a pilot for a series that mixes Riding Bean and Gunsmith Cats. The question is if anyone signs off on the pilot (Hey, Crunchyroll! Want to make people like you again after that debacle from the misandrist? Here’s what you make).
  7. Well I’m the first one to point out the issues from both sides, but I’ll say it again, it’s not the show, it’s the room. And Hirsh has a Netflix deal? Cool.
  8. But Netflix is airing the live action Sword Art Online... No, I get what you mean. This just seems more pointed than the She Ra nonsense, which everyone knows damn well should only be asking where Skeletor is.
  9. Well I just don’t watch shows I don’t like. Like most people. I’m trying to explain the virtriol here. Not say they’re right for having it.
  10. Because people watch anime to get away from SU looking shows.
  11. It is when you’re focused on a niche. Let’s use two examples - A more generalized service in Netflix, and a more specific one in the WWE Network. The former sells sheer quantity of product across multiple genres, sort of like a cable subscription. You get stuff that you don’t watch like documentaries or bad sci fi movies but that’s Ok, it’s part of a massive approach for broad appeal. The WWE Network, by the name, is for fans of WWE, or pro wrestling in general. All the material, whether it’s events, original shows, etc, are all related to that theme. Crunchyroll is more akin to the latter. Their niche is anime, and making this Steven Universe looking cliche storm on that niche service is a disconnect. It would be like putting a sitcom that has nothing to do with wrestling or wrestlers on the WWE Network.
  12. That people didn’t ask for and clearly don’t want. It’s hard to put my complaints into words because I stand by my earlier statement that if it was anywhere else no one would be this angry. As it stands this looks like a huge failure to read the room.
  13. What hype? I’d agree if this was a Hulu or Netflix show, but no one gets a Crunchyroll subscription that isn’t into anime to begin with. That’s what baffles me here. If this was on Hulu and we had the same bitching, then you’d be kindly labeled as a moron. This is different.
  14. Shen-WHO? I’m sorry but this is amazing.
  15. That’s the kicker here. If this was on Hulu, no one would give a fuck. Just one show in an ocean of them. But it’s on Crunchyroll so people feel like their money went towards this and not an original people would want to see. Top it off with the lead writer being an asshole who hates men and anime and I expect her panel Saturday to go VERY badly.
  16. That depends on what you mean by Tumblr. I think what saves or sinks this whole original enterprise is what their next show is. If it’s Rebecca Sugar’s next joint, we’re getting AnimeGate. Not that ___Gate means a lot. There’s no central hierarchy, it’s usually a bunch of Youtubers whining incessantly and occasionally digging up some dirt on someone they don’t like. It’s not the collective army of good neck beards think it is, nor is it this secret cabal keeping women down like its detractors think it is. It’s a name a bunch of geeks use for publicity because something wasn’t the way they liked. The rest of us go on ignoring it.
  17. Gunfights! And it looks like the beginning of Jimmy putting his network together.
  18. Because normally it’s not their money funding it. This is clearly a directive from their new corporate overlords at AT&T, since in capitalism if you aren’t expanding you’re dying, but the way the average subscriber views it is their money for Crunchyroll/VRV is being used to finance a show that looks like every single Western Steven Universe wannabe when that money should be going to Japanese studios and writers to make anime. It also doesn’t help the main writer looks like every man hating feminazi ever, has made Twitter screeds about hating men and hating anime (when liking anime is like...the only reason someone would get a Crunchyroll account) and is in general the worst example of an SJW.
  19. Maybe they are better off canceling the panel because I cannot see any good coming from it, besides the writing staff getting pelted with eggs and tomatoes.
  20. I’m just saying that after everyone is going “SJW’s!” and promising AnimeGate, it may not be pertinent to give them ammunition. Hence why I said blame them.
  21. That is the absolute DUMBEST thing they could do right now. Blame this shitheel.
  22. It’s one thing to say “X flavor of the moment isn’t a big deal just because it’s popular” which is a valid statement, as opposed to “this genre is inherently inferior” which is why the Oscars are a goddamn joke.
  23. They did say there were other shows to announce. Let’s hope at least one of them is worth a damn.
