Assassination Classroom premiers 8/29
Jman replied to EmpressAngel's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
It’s on Netflix right now, so my guess is they couldn’t even if they wanted to. But then, that’s why I bought the BTAS Boxset (along with the Batman Beyond one). -
Update! Keep making it obvious you’re putting Crunchyroll on blast lady. And then wonder why the Avatar clones get cancelled for My Wife Is a Demon Queen. So Crunchyroll were the ones that are declaring Avatar clones and “diversity” poison if she is to be believed (and many people suspect she may not be being totally honest). So after Onyx Equinox flops we won’t see shows like it ever again. I made my mandatory Exaxxion reference, but imagine a new age where these Avatar clones are rejected on sight in favor of original stuff or adaptations of things that should have gotten anime’s by now.

Take that Jericho! NBA and UFC winning the night is no surprise to sports fans, but Batman = Ratings. Honestly, you could just put the block on hold till Fire Force starts and go through the remaining good Batman DTV films and it would probably do better than the cobbled together quilt of reruns and Black Clover. People will tune in for the month, and you even have a built in slogan - “Same Bat-Time, same Bat-Channel!”

https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/powerpuff-girls-live-action-series-cw-1234746828/ Here’s the pitch - Just drink it in ladies and gentlemen. Drink in the desperation of trying to make more superhero stories.

Well after she salted the earth like she did her pilot is dead on arrival. I think there’s something to be said about surface level diversity and how it drowns out actual minority creators, but if this means Crunchyroll throws all the Avatar clone pitches in the garbage and green lights Cannon God Exaxxion, I won’t complain.

Which is totally a Joker thing to do. One last joke on Batman. -

Did anyone mention the Conan O’Brien cameo? -
I know. These are relics lost to time before what Toonami became was finalized. Turner was sort of infamous for that, repacking old assets under new skins.

The “joys” of social media and dirty laundry airing. Short version - Crunchyroll considers pitches based on diversity poison now thanks to a certain show that will not be mentioned and this animator was told to pound sand with her pitch. She is arguing that years of shows sold solely on diversity had hit the inevitable course correction, with a lot of pitches laughed out of boardrooms the second the word “diverse” is mentioned.

Great Pretender 1-3.

Hosted by Moltar, and primarily composed of stories concerning the Hanna Barbera action lineup, this was a thing during the genesis of Toonami. Naturally this was before the block became synonymous with anime (and it was Marvel that liked to throw licenses into their universe), so no attempts from DC writers to write Dragon Ball or Tenchi.

The first episode is on YouTube. Legally. So here’s an opportunity to form an opinion. Personally, I like it. High concept story with a creepy plot.

Eh, I’m sure firing a few more people from the comic division will cover the costs. -
Act-Age manga cancelled after author tries soliciting middle schoolers
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
The manga has quickly been erased. Every single publication translating it has stopped, printings have stopped, and it’s been removed from bookstores. And as the final nail in the coffin, the most recent chapter of Watamote - -
WarnerMedia is notorious for the right hand not knowing what the left is doing. I have no reason to think the story is false if Variety posted it. It’s weird because the virtual convention made it a point that Toonami was working primarily on co-productions and a week later WarneMedia goes “we’re selling the company.”.
