  1. The most recent addition to Gantz was a 3D CG movie in 2016 that was released in the US as a Netflix exclusive. It has a surprisingly active lifespan (helped by the author mentioning it in manga he did after it) even if right now the author is focusing on his current manga Gigant (which I expect to get an anime eventually. I mean Inuyakishi, his first post Gantz manga did).
  2. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-09-13/deadline-entertainment-website-lists-hollywood-gantz-adaptation/.163972 Let’s see what gets made first, this or a Gigant anime.
  3. God I hope not. The new Yakuza game is getting George Takei to play an older crime boss. Shenmue can spring for a few decent actors and directors.
  4. The show is a pretty standard comedy about an introvert being made to do stuff by an extrovert and shenanigans ensue. Her big boobs offend people.
  5. https://www.funimation.com/blog/2020/09/09/funimation-viz-media-partnership-brings-iconic-catalog-to-funimation-naruto-hunter-x-hunter/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=community&utm_campaign=funimation-viz&utm_content=news-announce&utm_term= Toe dipping has become a full blown partnership.
  6. This made the Huffington Post. I am just silently hoping when all is said is done, next year can be more normal.
  7. Seeing photos of a popular anime that aired on cable television and various streaming services instead of stock group photos is a conspiracy apparently. Anyway, Toonami really needs to get S2 if it’s within their power to do so.
  8. No. There will not be. And apparently the orders saying such came from above Adult Swim.
  9. It was the Family Guy Network, but that show has a set leave date.
  10. This seems to confirm the WarnerMedia told them to piss off theory.
  11. Sorry. I’d get you some but all the malls are closed and well...can’t send those over the internet just yet. Ok, anime adaptations of video games that should have been made in the mid-2000’s. Go. (Soul Calibur).
  12. It lets them produce something the others aren’t and that’s important. A Shenmue anime feels like a mid 2000’s product though, sold at an FYE next to copies of Gungrave and Highlander: The Search for Vengeance. You can practically smell the mall Cinnabon.
  13. Publick liked this tweet, and Ken Plume has worked with him on VB seasons. Another COVID cancellation?
  14. What was revolutionary in 1999 and 2001 was painfully outdated in 2019. The GTA series being a thing and the Yakuza series gaining popularity in the West did not help.
  15. Short version - An incredibly ambitious adventure game that was the precursor to the modern open world games, but was hampered by its abysmal pacing and legendarily shitty dub. Most of what it did was refined properly in the Yakuza series, which is generally considered “Shenmue, but good.” The first two games were released by Sega on the Dreamcast and the original Xbox, and decades later, a crowdfunded third chapter was released on PS4 to critical bashing.
  16. The correct answer is a Shenmue anime... Can it defy Shenmue tradition and have a not-dogshit dub? It’s not cute or endearing. Yakuza got George Takei for its next game...
  17. “Excuse me, do you know where sailors hang out?”
  18. It came up in the podcast thread, but this deserves its own topic. Here’s the question, what do you think the announcement will be? New co-production? Toonami rebranding? Toonami airing Shield Hero as the convention is supposed to announce more seasons? An Uzumaki trailer? Place your bets!
  19. And if WarnerMedia sells Crunchyroll they’re FUBAR. And don’t see it happening for that reason.
  20. https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2020/09/01-1/anime-in-america-taps-jason-demarco-and-roland-kelts-to-talk-anime-on-tv?utm_source=community_cr&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=news&referrer=community_cr_twitter_news As much as we rag on his current state, the guy is probably a historical repository on the history of airings and old stories. That I wouldn’t mind hearing.
  21. They made a follow up video using the poor treatment of Frylock’s VA as a “gotcha, now shut the fuck up” argument.
  22. Genndy returns with the second half of his limited series, and a reason to watch Adult Swim.
  23. “Da 5 Bloods” starts with a reading of that poem as well.
  24. People are dying in the street. I kind of get why some are being heavy handed. Not that it keeps the content police from getting in your face.
