  1. It was mostly on Toonami to play keep away from Netflix. But after Thus Spoke Kishibe Roban became a Netflix exclusive, it made sense they were going to get all the JoJo. DeMarco must be pissed.
  2. You’re not wrong. Same day theater/HBO releases was a desperate move (and one that seriously pissed off just about everybody) but it seems to have worked.
  3. I still remember this insane NYE stunt Adult Swim pulled years ago when they put the first 3 minutes of the ATHF movie on and then put it in a tiny window while constantly advertising it. At this point they oughta do the same with The Suicide Squad.
  4. More than 0. It also helps that The Suicide Squad is actually a pretty damn good movie. They let James Gunn go 85% Troma, which is about 50% more Troma than most major studios would ever allow.
  5. Heading out tonight, but let’s be honest, by design this isn’t a night they want you watching Toonami. They want you signing up for HBO Max and putting this on -
  6. Discotek continues to give old heads lots of well, old material.
  7. We all figured we would give it the Onyx Equinox treatment. Ignore it and it will go away.
  8. It’s getting a new manga arc on top of the anime apparently.
  9. I just get really sick of that pig photo every time I want to see a trailer.
  10. Preview video is up, and the usual hate that has followed CR originals is present, from the usual calls of "Absolutely no one cares" to the ever popular pig shitting photo that everyone loves to spam with.
  11. It was. Its second week saw it out gross the Mortal Kombat reboot.
  12. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2021-08-05/crunchyroll-unveils-blade-runner-black-lotus-anime-opening-visual/.175902 November release confirmed.
  13. DC and Toonami have always had a strong relationship and Quinn isn’t a low effort bean mouth production. It’s comedic but it has enough action to qualify as an action/comedy. Also remember, this block aired Pop Team Epic.
  14. Because I really wanted God of High School to hold me over between the next Kengan Ashura season, but it was too quickly paced and really tonally confused. It was weird. Maybe I should blame Webtoon.
  15. At this point, people know what they want. If they want to see wacky anti heroes mowed down, The Suicide Squad - If they want anime, they have to wait a week.
  16. Crunchyroll Originals may be flopping like wet fish but when it comes to anime, people are lining up to give them money.
  17. You have to remember Warner doesn’t want you watching Toonami, they want you buying an HBO Max subscription to see The Suicide Squad.
  18. I find it funny after a very uninspired Voltron parody, they use the same robot in a proper anime short and the end result is infinitely weirder, but visually about a thousand times more interesting.
  19. I'm genuinely surprised that Toonami hasn't aired Tower of God. They seem to have a rather good relationship with the director.
  20. I say go for it and laugh all the live long day about it. It actually makes a lot of sense that he’s a stereotypical pervert to the point of utter obnoxiousness if he swings both ways and wants to distract from those urges (and his urges about female company are genuinely sincere so it isn’t like he’s lying about liking the ladies). It’s also the sort of inadvertent satire I live for where characters people find hot are made gay by the fandom for female fantasies. Making grape boy bisexual is perfectly valid and puts those biases right in the mirror.
  21. Another argument for digital distribution.
  22. I think The Suicide Squad is going to be the last DC movie out for a while. I’m pretty sure we’re going to see this or some animated movies air again when The Batman comes out though.
