  1. I'll say it again, self-declared PC censor. You're boned if someone like that is on your staff and isn't immediately fired (but she was apparently a nepotism hire). The best criticism I've seen of LA Bebop was that in its quest to update the material for no discernible reason other than to be PC, it completely destroyed the far more relevant and resonant moral of class struggle that sort of forms the background of the settings and the characters (and is lifted from its noir roots). That's kind of the point, that the system screwed over the Bebop crew, in different ways mind you, but screwed them over all the same.
  2. My loathing, my complete and utter loathing of assholes who hate remote work is once again validated. But Texas is a Right to Work state, which is why CR is there in the first place. If you don’t like it, you get to sit and spin.
  3. Yeah, that would be nice. Of course with every streamer asking for stuff because of the reliable returns, and all these light novel companies asking for returns, it’s a lot. Too much.
  4. The only immediate thing I can think of is a tie-in to the new Shazam movie, in March.
  5. Raiding the DC chest! It’s a move I’m surprised Toonami didn’t do more before, and stunned they can do it with Zaslav selling the rights to animation off to Amazon. That said, Fatal Five is really good (and might as well be a DCAU movie) but Injustice is crap. Then again, if they were going to animate an Injustice comic, I was hoping it would be Injustice vs Masters of the Universe.
  6. Netflix and the studios are claiming that this will help alleviate a labor shortage (since the anime industry is notoriously overworked as demand for anime skyrockets) by allowing AI to make backgrounds and a single animator to clean up what is made rather than have six people do the backgrounds. Somewhere Miyazaki is ready to burn things.
  7. A lot of this I would gather depends on when LA One Piece is set to debut, and if they have any hope of it not being a one season wonder. Does the anime’s presence promote or inhibit the show? As much as we all hate the idea of it existing, I gather their attempt to make OP Game of Thrones will be their top priority.
  8. Bizarrely, Gunn has said that future DC animation will be in continuity with his new movie slate. And he’s starting with the NEVER AIRING ON TOONAMI EVER Creature Commandos, which sounds like a toyline.
  9. Coming this summer. Where? Eh, don’t ask me.
  10. “It’s airing on streaming I tell you whut.”
  11. I can't see this show doing anything as glorious as the dance scene.
  12. Go Nagai concept, Anno directing, and Imashi handling the art. Way back in the day I thought this would have made a great movie for adult swim action, except the free flowing nipples would have made that impossible.
  13. Apparently the dub for the prologue was dumped on Crunchyroll with zero warning or ads.
  14. Record of Ragnarok S2 7-10. The last time a Netflix anime got this popular this quickly was Cyberpunk Edgerunners, which single handedly saved that game. It’s kind of crazy.
  15. Streaming even in the era of contraction is a weird beast. You know what the 4th most popular show in Netflix US was? (It’s 5th today). Record of Ragnarok. Feels like it snuck up on us.
  16. Record of Ragnarok S2 4-6
  17. Speaking of jail, can I talk briefly about something bugging me a bit? It feels like people are trying to downplay these accusations by saying he’s canceled. No. Warren Ellis was canceled. He can’t get work anymore but he can still sleep in his own bed, go to the grocery store, and have dinner at a restaurant whenever he pleases with his Transmetropolitan residuals. This jackass got ARRESTED. He’s an accused felon! That’s not cancelation, that’s potential jail time! He’s not canceled by the mob, he’s being charged for a crime! Two!
