The Toonami Ratings Thread 1.0 :You are on a new board

Give Naruto Black Clovers spot. I'm 90 percent sure it could beat it. It only needs to gain 170k viewers by moving up 4 timeslots. So was that the 3rd worst ratings performance of all time? After the Bebop marathon and the 2018 low point? -

I finally dropped HxH a few episodes into greed island. I have a feeling a lot of other people did as well. So Naruto...... it beat HxH and Gundam. Apparently Naruto has beaten HxH something like... 20x in the ratings now. Is it time for Naruto to move up? -

What are you doing, giving the date of when their most recent episode was aired in Japan? By that logic airing episode 900 of One Piece makes it a new show because it was aired recently. DBZ, Jojo, Gundam, Naruto and HxH are all ancient franchises. Being dubbed or having new seasons doesn't make it a whole new anime. You have one new show on Toonami. Black Clover. -
Moose.... had a bit of a meltdown after One Piece was canceled. Jman administered the finishing blow to push him over the edge.

OPM proved that viewers will stick around for more than just DBZ. Super may not have quality but it's popular. The fact that it actually gets good after 100 episodes has increased it's popularity quite a bit. Well we'd actually have to TRY airing better anime to find out. Our only new show is.. Black Clover? Are they airing any of the top 10 anime from 2018, 17 or 16? I mean DBS has about.... a year and a half left. If Toonami isn't planning on rolling over and dying after DBS is gone, then the time to start building a reputation for showing stuff that's either good or at least popular is now. -

Really? What did he say about it? That would be quite the get if he was able to get 2016's hottest anime for Toonami. -
Conspiracy theory about the show Space Dandy replaced

Meh it could be any obscure legal reason. Trying to pin down what that's about is impossible. -

Has Demarco shown any sign that he's aware of it's existence? The dub could be quite a few months away still. I say Kabaneri is still the front runner. Black Butler is from 2008, it's not happening. -
Lol "To adapt the popular "polished turd" analogy, I'd call this show at its best a very polished and unassuming rock on the side of the road. With its recent Toonami debut and surprisingly intense marketing push over here in the west, it looks like Black Clover's going to be a part of the anime zeitgeist whether people like it or not. My Hero Academia had that underlying charisma that made it an easy hit, but Clover has a much steeper climb ahead despite the same ambitions. In a way, being the scrappy underdog who nobody wants to like may just be the most in-spirit with the genre a show has ever been, but I'm counting on it to surpass this episode as its ceiling someday." He's not kidding about that marketing push. They made Crunchyroll into a bunch of sellout bitches shilling for this anime. "One of the best Shonen adaptations ever!"

Yeah I thought it was watchable, that's about it. People really disliked Lefiya as the MC.

Did you watch the Oratoria side story? And is Hestia still bestia?
-
Lotta big sequel seasons this year. Overlord, Sins, Steins Gate, Danmachi, Index, MHA. And yeah Toonami will likely have none of them =P

A higher power... in a Shonen anime! Nope nope I don't buy it. Oh and from what I've heard... since I don't watch this... is that for plot reasons the sword becomes incredibly sharp when it's needed to cut something. So if it needs to cut through giant metal chains to free someone.. it will do that. If it hits a person it's a butter knife.

Dragon Ball Super Episode 51 Discussion
Daos replied to Meilag32's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
It's all very convoluted. You have 3 separate timelines. The original timeline where Goku kills Frieza and King Cold, dies of the heart virus and the androids kill everyone and terrorize earth. Then you have Cell's timeline, where Trunks has somehow killed the androids, but Cell kills Trunks and takes the time machine into the past to find the androids so he can be perfect. Then you have the timeline Trunks alters by coming into the past, where he defeats Frieza and Cold, warns Goku of the heart virus, then leaves. For some reason this causes android 16 and 19 to exist, along with 17 and 18 becoming twice as powerful as they were in Trunks Future timeline. While they're twice as powerful they're not evil, as the androids from Trunks timeline wipe out most of humanity due to the sole fact that they despise humans. You also have the fact that when Trunks travels back into the future, he finds out nothing has changed there. So changing the future by making changes in the past is impossible according to DBZ time travel rules. So the really odd thing, is when Trunks travels into the past again like he does in Super.... why does he keep traveling to the past that he altered? Why doesn't he travel into the past of his timeline where Goku has died of the heart virus? Is it now impossible for him to travel to his own timelines past? -

Farmer with shotgun in the most powerful person in DBZ, how dare you. -
They do good animation but are probably the worst at adaptations. Studio White Fox does beautiful work and great adaptions like Stein's Gate and RE Zero. Pierott gives us stuff like Tokyo Ghoul, Naruto, Bleach, Black Clover, and Super Milk Chan. They just ruin everything they touch.

Live action Sword Art Online IS happening, blame Netflix
Daos replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Fifty shades of grey was actually a Twilight fan fic that became so popular the author rewrote it as its own story. Twilight is basically a reverse harem. A bunch of immortal good looking guys want some average looking girl and fall in love with her for no reason. The books apparently go into great detail about the guys and how handsome they are, and offer almost zero description of Bella. This lets women imagine themselves as her and allows it to become kind of a wish fulfillment fantasy. It works in anime as well, there's a reason so many anime are just Harem + wildly overpowered protagonist. That's the male fantasy basically. Long story short, they're the lowest common denominator of literature. -

You say that because you frequent Toonami message boards where people actually know about Toonami and generally have positive feelings for it. Out in the non Toonami world, people are like "Oh.. they made Kai for Buu saga?? On Toonami? Toonami still exists?" The one guy i know IRL that watches Super doesn't even watch it on Toonami. So you think Toonami has been airing fantastic anime and despite that the ratings are dismal? Or would it be more reasonable to say they've been doing the exact opposite and ratings are dismal because of it?
