Lol review on Mal. It's only slightly better critically received than Tokyo Ghoul. "Inspired by old familiar mecha, Darling in the FranXX tries to incorporate over-the-top elements of Gurren Laggan and symbolic yet dramatic elements of Evangelion. Where it doesn't fail to deliver in generic combat, it not only fails to deliver in consistent plot, which it tries to build upon, but adds unnecessary elements of melodrama from characters, which just makes them look unrealistic and unlikable, it adds on extra awkward elements that makes sympathizing with the cast a pain and following the plot a chore. Perhaps the cartoony mecha style emphasizes on that, but in the end it's a shallow show that foreshadows heavily on plot twists, but doesn't follow through to them in the end. If you enjoy "nu"-mecha anime with unnecessary fanservice, no respect to its own world building and plot, and no respect to the viewer - go ahead and give this a go. What might seem to be a popcorn flick at first, simply something fun to watch, ends up being something that simply spits on the viewer in multiple ways and calls it a day."

It was good drama but they're dropping the ball on the whole... ya know.. plot?

The Toonami Ratings Thread 1.0 :You are on a new board
Daos replied to StarPanda's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Well the ratings for Gundam aren't horrendous.... but..... it gets the same ratings that any mediocre show could do in that spot. It's not the year 2000 anymore, there's better Sci-Fi and Mecha anime. I don't understand the fascination Demarco has with Gundam just because he liked it 20 years ago. So why run the block with the aim of being mediocre? Has any restaurant ever stayed in business by aiming to serve mediocre food? Toonami's saving grace is still the fact that CN is in horrible shape and the networks ratings are horrible and they have to run TTG 30x a day. But that might not always be the case. -

Previous art style was way superior, but also very complicated and probably much harder to animate. However, I think that might be a fan art. I mean look at the original. -

You know the sad thing is... Demarco is going to see this and say.. YES THIS! We need more of this! http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2018/04/16-1/sunrise-to-reveal-gundam-series-new-title-in-press-conference-on-april-20 -
That's a reasonable response.

So that was the worst of 2018 so far? Don't worry Demarco says the block is doing great. Everythings fine... we're all fine here now. How are you? -

Well we had a couple good weeks. But as I say every week... this lineup isn't exactly must watch TV. Any kind of competition murders it. The big final fight of Kai doing mediocre is pretty depressing. Ok 61 percent for Jojo... worst retention of any show ever? Black Clover losing that many viewers after there's no viewers left is just..... bad. Really bad. 52? What a joke. -
What are your thoughts on the trend of heavily 3d cgi'd movies and series?

Berserk is a bad example though. I mean.... the fan outrage against how shitty it looked was immediate. It was bad. -
I'd say anything where you're from our world, but the story takes place in another world.....virtual or otherwise.... is Isekai. Other than Hack, Inuyasha... and maybe Big O.... no Isekai on Toonami. SAO literally made the Isekai genre popular again. The reason so many shitty Isekai are churned out with OP protags that look like Kirito is because they keep doing well. That god awful smartphone anime is getting a second season. Without SAO you probably don't have Re Zero, Konosuba, No Game no Life, Ovelord, Gate and a bunch of other stuff. I'm gonna say no on Knights and Magic. I didn't hate it but I only made it about 7 or 8 episodes in before losing interest. And after looking it up on MAL.. it's ranked worse than Dimension W and drastically less popular. Yes, drastically less popular than DW. I just don't think it makes sense to air stuff on Toonami that has zero fan base unless we're talking about filling the back slots.

That's an example of how not to do CGI. -
I was able to get a brand new pair of size 15 New Balance shoes for 46 bucks on Amazon a few weeks ago. They're my go to site for random stuff. With Ebay.. just check seller reputation. If it's dismal just pass on it.

Oh the way I read Owls statement was like he was confirming that the new show airing was an older show and that it was Star Blazers. In another world with my smartphone is 100 percent trash. Not even the enjoyable kind. Wildly OP MC with no personality that looks like Kirito does OP things and defeats everyone effortlessly while assembling a massive harem. There's no plot. A similar anime came out last season called "Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody" It's almost identical to Smartphone except slightly enjoyable. Pic 1 is smartphone. Pic 2 is Death March
