Fridays is Toonami evening so that would be an anime evening. Keeping on eye on the streams in general, if they have early release episodes of a new show that would be a time to float in and link to the [ adult swim ] section of the boards as a place to actually discuss the show in an environment that isn't a crapped up, stuttering chat log. Most of the daily streaming programs aren't quite as easily translatable since they are specific in-house stuff that didn't exist [with maybe the exception of FishCenter Live] when the old boards did. The active exception is anything featuring that butt-weasel Tim Hiedecker since that's T&E garbage tie-in that almost reaches as far back as Prospero.

Yes. Yes I did. The old log-ins for the boards still exist in the site. They are now used as keys to unlock posting ability in the streaming chats. Everyone who was part of the old boards will have the same log-in registration because that's the date the beta boards for the chat were started. All that info was just ported over. Board links don't even go to a crash page anymore.

People are shitting on it because the people using it don't seem to realize that it only works because the stories are unique and instead think it works because it works and want to apply it to everything. In the case of ThunderCat Roar, they'll replay the absolute shit out of it like they do with TTG and try to act like it's a super-mega hit when all it is is background noise for people who use the tv to babysit.

I think a clarification could be in order. Yes, there's a 'style' that goes through every so often where everyone seems to be trying to use it for everything. The one's above are one set, there was a time when everyone was trying to be like Ren & Stimpy, there's this newish hippo-blob-people 'CalArts' thing. But the difference is that while the 'CalArts' style works for many of their current projects, it does so because those projects are already unique stories. Johnny Bravo, Power Puff Girls, Dexter - all original stories. Steven Universe, Star, Clarence - unique stories. ThunderCats - old story. It already has it's own established art type from back in the frickin' 80's and it still has a fanbase that's kept it alive all this time. Even the 2011 version had excellent art. ThunderCats Roar does not. It's basically someone seeing something and deciding, hey I can make it better! And then you get this

As for the boards, chances are they pooped the bed so badly over the years of being negligent board-parents that they couldn't bring back the old boards. Sort of like how ASA is practically a vomit inducing swear word with some but Toonami brings all the boys to the yard. Their only hope would be to sponsor an independent board like here but have the least amount of say possible as to it's upkeep and marketing choices so they couldn't do the same shit they did on the old site. In short, they can pay to keep the lights on and pimp it as a place to converse about any and all topics while occasionally posting something of theirs that they'd like to promote in the proper areas but they wouldn't get to make any of the rules or sell space for ads or basically do anything that would make them direct money at the costs of an entire posting community.

Agent Coulson was the connection between the series and the movies. Fury said that it was more important for the team to think he was dead in order to get them to work together better and think more about the consequences of their bickering which is why Coulson sort of disappeared. Further when the Civil War happened, his direct job with the Avengers would have ceased anyway and gone underground so his main job became keeping SHIELD going underground and bringing in the unintentional powered people instead. The movie big battle happens in NY [covered on the tvs] and overseas [where it wasn't on tv quite yet] while the series had their own big battle going on in Chicago that ended just shortly before the battle ended in the movie. So they were busy with their own Earth-saving battle. The point with Gotham is the journey and the origin stories. If people need to have DC special effects every 5 minutes, the CW has a butt-ton of DC superhero shows. I recalling most but not all since it's been forever, but that was the main gist of ThunderCats and occurred in the second season. I have Part Two of it but not Part One so I haven't been able to rewatch it yet.
