  1. So onto this week's Toonami... I mainly focused on JoJo's and the Gundam IBO premiere, though I did tune in partway through DBZ Kai. Buu somehow morphing into a hot jock was hilarious. For the former of former set, good times. Shows can be pretty formulaic but still a lot of fun, as Stardust Crusaders has shown. This is probably the most insanely contrived road trip in the history of anime, and I have to wonder how deep DIO's bench goes. But it's all in good fun. The pig at the beginning seemed to just be thrown in so the audience could assume they were the stand user, but then they brought in two new guys who look pretty awesome. I like Hol Horse, especially for his dub voice, magical guns, and even magical-er Stand bullets. And as for Centerfold, I have to tell you... if attacking via mirrors as well as any sort of reflection isn't an existing trope, it should be. I like the idea in general.
  2. Either the guy who uploads a lot of Toonami promos or this somewhat weak hurricane that became a tropical storm. I've definitely seen worse.
  3. You know, for as much as the comparisons to video game anime have been played up, this arc hasn't really felt that way, at least to me. I mean, there is the card collecting aspect to it all, but Greed Island is located in the real world. And that makes the whole "die in the game, die in real life" thing hilariously redundant. B}
  4. You mean the 28th? I have not seen anything about that, but I think it's the most likely scenario.
  5. One thing you have to remember is that the majority of these shows are at least well liked by fans. And I guess they all did okay, but DeMarco could be lying to us. JoJo's Part 3 is a small step down from the first two in terms of my personal enjoyment, but I think it's actually the highlight of Toonami for right now. HxH hasn't gelled with me for a while (I have to get serious about it before Chimera Ant starts up, at least), and I guess Lupin is okay, but it's not the kind of show I enjoy watching during Toonami. I'd rather see something else in its slot. -_' I'll give Gundam IBO S2 a chance, even if I wasn't too keen on the first. It at least promises to be a very chaotic show with tons of meaningful drama and character deaths.
  6. And a co-funded second season of Dimension W. :robotD
  7. I think Toonami could stand to move in both directions. Get the people what they want in newer shows sans Dragon Ball, but carve out an hour or so in the back for those lesser-known anime. And I wouldn't mind seeing some past Broadcast Dubs on the block. Basically, whatever is more likely that people haven't seen, I think'd be good.
  8. The iDOLM@STER #3 Tsuredure Children #9 and #10
  9. Black Clover would probably rate well, but I have no desire to see it on the block. I guess it's the most generic shonen to ever get this popular. shithead
  10. I like how this turned into more of a general Toonami discussion thread... even if we didn't need another.
  11. That wasn't my point. You still don't seem to realize how few people watch this stream as opposed to anything else [as] does. I do somewhat agree with your point that they could make it line up with the on-air block more often, but it's not likely since that effort is more likely to go into other parts of their streaming empire. On the other hand, ask me what it's like to fight for a cause that is already irrational.
  12. Show me one other person who actually watches the stream to get refreshed on a show. The people who run it certainly can't, which explains the lack of effort. -_'
  13. And here's another one. I really want to get these up every Friday, but we'll see what happens with my studies. The iDOLM@STER Episode 2: "The Idols Prepare Themselves" [don't buy a Jupiter Jack]
  14. Man, I miss when Bronies were a prominent fandom on the Internet.
  15. Sorry. whut I do agree that political satire does not show up in Japanese cartoons nearly as much. Mr. Osomatsu has a wide-reaching reference pool to justify the scene, which I do think is pretty funny if only for one of the boys' exasperated "OBAMAHH!" yell.
  16. What, you feel mad for having expressed an opinion? I'd just take the criticism of it and move on. -_'
  17. Yeah, this one gets a shrug from me. And people from Funi were apparently doxxed over it. |::
  18. The funny thing is, this isn't even in the Top 10 of awful things to happen this year. Of course, politics takes up the entire list, but if you filter that shit out, I'm not sure. I will live for the Alicization riffing, though the spin-off sounds like something I could unironically enjoy.
  19. Sounds good. I just wanted to pile on a bit. shithead
  20. Oh, there is a little more to his personality... but it's about wanting Trump to start a nuclear war.
  21. Pretty much. It does make you wonder why they waited, but I'm glad to see them finish the HD run. So barring a freak removal of something or FLCL 2 being ready far earlier than anticipated, Toonami is now set for the rest of the year. All we don't know is what marathons will be airing. And maybe something special for DST. Also, if they end up blacking out the entire schedule because of this change, please don't assume anything else is happening. Honestly, that shit just isn't healthy for us.
  22. The longtime [adult swim] employee retired today. He helped produce the network's early shows like Space Ghost Coast to Coast and The Brak Show, and he wrote many episodes of the latter. He also apparently did a lot of [as]' most famous promos, and they're showing some of them tonight on air. A marathon of The Brak Show starts at 1:00 and goes on until [as]' end. But for now, we're in the middle of five hours of Bob's Burgers, which I've heard his son has writing duties on. And there's a unique [as] bug during each episode instead of the normal logo. These are quite high honors for someone I've barely thought about in my entire life. But good job, Pete, because I think you deserve it. applause
  23. You have to name more than one example for this argument to have merit. Especially when there are dozens of anime coming out every season.
