I really have to wonder if the "new layout every year" thing is something that costs money... well, much of it, anyway. It seems pretty wasteful to me. There was also the "Pipes" revival for the 20th anniversary celebration that got used for less than two months. Maybe they should've started using that as permanent packaging; someone I follow on Twitter suggested that for nostalgia purposes. I mean, the old Toonami never had a problem with reusing graphics; a typical look lasted for more than a year, and they had an exponentially higher budget. ::]::

Or JoJo's. Who cares if it would've rated low, some of its episodes are a great fit for Halloween, like the one with Soul Sacrifice. -

Finally, Toonami gets the themed marathon-ish it's always deserved. -
Toonami's Influence On Netflix's 2018 Anime Craze

It's probably the Funiroll deal. CR announced they would be dubbing their own shows, but then that deal happened, and so did delays. KanColle took its sweet time to come out on home video, and Kabaneri has followed suit. Of course, there's no guarantee anything that streamed before the deal was made is locked up by Funi. :ghost: -
I'm all for FLCL 2 airing between Stardust Crusaders' two cours, but I worry it might be just a little too soon. As in, it'd air in the spring rather than February or early March. I hope we get a concrete date by the end of the year. With English recording for the show apparently having started, its premiere can't be too far away. Now, as for AoT itself.... I don't have much to say. But let's hope Season 3 wows us even harder than the last sequel did.

Samurai Jack Halloween Marathon Discussion

Holy my goodness, people really didn't care for this one. I haven't seen a single discussion thread on this board go so low. Under two pages for me, and probably less than one for the others. -
Toonami's Influence On Netflix's 2018 Anime Craze
Blatch replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I don't think so. Instead, he invests too much of the time into politics. Under this logic, with nobody to see what's popular, it's a miracle Toonami has had good ratings for this long. But, in reality, their success came from not really focusing on new shit, but looking at old shows they knew were really good and exposing a wider audience to them. Right now, the block is too far between airing the new hotness and undiscovered gems. I'd like them to go in both directions at the same time. Also, as an epilogue for this, Toonami has absolutely no incentive to change if their ratings are still pretty good. But rather than passing off this entire continued conversation as meaningless, I'll just say that you might have to try really hard to see our demands through. -
I've not much to say about this one. Either enjoy it, or don't. Don't flame anyone or anything here, and for whatever you do, make sure to have fun.

The Toonami Ratings Thread 1.0 :You are on a new board

It was redundant to me by using the word twice. Not technically true, but virtually all of those shows aired before Aniplex started releasing their own shows in North America. ohno -

Okay, first of all, I hate when people use redundant phrases like "they will improve the block by getting new shows for the block", but that has long been a personal nitpick of mine. Also, not only do we not know if Aniplex is getting that "Darling" show, but they seem to have abandoned any simul-dub procs after how Durarara!!'s turned out. As in, not good. You probably just brought it up for easy name recognition of "yes, this is good". -
Toonami Weekly Marathon Stream 2017 Archive & Updates
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
There are a lot of people who don't mind that, honestly. I can't think of many who would want to binge a whole show in such little time. But, at the same time, seeing just five episodes of a show in a week is too much of a tease. Especially if you're emotionally invested in it and want to continue the story elsewhere. So all in all, airing any amount of a show on the stream is going to disappoint somebody. Personally, if they're not going to air more than five episodes at a time, I'd rather them junk this idea entirely. Just air the time-delayed block all week. Maybe they could work to have it on just a one or two week delay to compensate. -
It doesn't. I just watched some heavy episodes of various shows and came out of it feeling wistful. Also, we are in a change of seasons. The iDOLM@STER #4

A pretty okay night considering my low standards and the outside competition. ::]:: And yeah, I did watch the Game 7. I missed out on the first hour of Toonami in favor of that and finishing up Tsuredure Children. -

Toonami Weekly Marathon Stream 2017 Archive & Updates
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Personally, I think Toonami should have some online presence, and the stream is good enough for that. Giving it a paid(?) streaming service like a much smaller Crunchyroll would be a direct contradiction of what it is as a brand. And yes, they did have Jetstream way back in the day, but when they did it, streaming as a primary form of viewing was just a glimmer in the eye of the guys delivering Netflix DVDs to everyone's mailboxes. Also, in regards to what the hell is up about the broadcast rights vs. streaming, I have no answer. Do the companies licensing out these shows require Toonami to get everything in one shot? I guess so, considering that the Kill la Kill dub has only ever streamed on the Internet through the [adult swim] site. Maybe Toonami would have less of a problem losing shows to Netflix if they didn't require a full package. So they could still show things on TV and not be considered competition, and everyone would be happy. But I don't know. I don't know at all. |:: Now, this whole idea with the stream... is kind of dumb, honestly. If I was genuinely interested in what they're playing, I'd rather watch it on my own terms, and preferably in better quality. Presenting it as a marathon means only the die-hard Toonami fans are going to appreciate it, because a lot of people don't have the time to sit down and watch it all in order, in two-hour shifts, with no breaks other than maybe pausing it and hoping the web client doesn't go kaboom. There should be an easier way to get your fix of this stuff. And it's not going to have to follow the Toonami broadcast every week, owing to how few people see it (at least right now), but they could at least play more newer shows, and maybe others Toonami doesn't currently have rerunning, like IGPX. -

So we have GiTS 2ND GiG on the stream right now to tie into its on-air return, but it looks awful. I guess they went back to the original Shit-D tapes. That's poor management even by my low standards. ohno -

Wait a second... did someone see something Space Dandy-related before the show started? Oh, so it was for the Blu-ray set. As in, the new one Funi is putting out. But I'd like to know if this was a new ad or was based off of something they already did. -

Yes, clearly we need to "stop the bleeding" of a lineup that expanded an entire hour with most of these shows and JoJo's is apparently doing okay. Do you all realize how stupid this sounds? The numbers may not add up, but in the end, I'll gladly take the word of god if only because it means I won't participate in inglorious arguments. -

Well, this seems to be a concentrated nuke uh... stream of dirty bombs aimed at not just Toonami, but the entire American industry at large. And you're going to be forced to buy in if you even tangentially like the medium.
